I'm with notalone. When I was a student I spent a lot of time alone on trains. I would get my work done then so as to be able to enjoy myself when I got to my destination.

I bet I really annoyed some of you. I was one of those literature in foreign languages!

But I have never used a highlighter pen on anything other than my notes! Honest!

No, my pet peeve is when people set up their own mini office in Nero's or Costa Coffee with their fricking laptop and papers all set out on the table and have poncetastic telephone conversations on their mobiles and glare at me (and Troutpout) when we have just gone in for a coffee and a chat as if to say "Oi! D'you mind? I am Working and my job is Very Important and you are disturbing me with your idle chit chat." Oooh it narks me right off - go and work in your bloody office if it's so important.

I'm a student and when I'm on trains (which isn't very often) I always do some work. 4 main reasons for this

  1. I'm so bored I actually want to do some work.
  2. If dd sees that I'm working, she sits more quietly and colours in or looks out of the windows
  3. I always think people are judging me for being a young single mother and it takes my mind off it
  4. I'm a maths student and I want everyone to think I'm really clever
