am i beeing unfair to the other kids? my dd has a heart condition she has been without her feeding tube for 9 weeks and doing great. she will be 3 in november as she burns of more cals , her heart beats twice as fast as a normal heart which means she has to eat high fat and cal food and she snacks all day long, we had to leave early yesterday because she was so trierd and blue asking for her red crisps as soon as she had eaten them she was ready to start again, doctors have said she needs to attend activities to help her devlopment and social skills. am i being unfair to the other kids if i ask for her to have her red crisps instead of a heathly snack (which she does not eat anyway)

You can just get those flat soft flour tortillas, drizzle with olive oil (sprinkle with parmesan cheese if you want), and then put them in the oven for a few minutes until they go crispy. Delicious!!!!

slice potatoes really thinly then just deep fat fry them.

Umlellala · 23/09/2008 08:35

use potato peeler to 'shave' parsnips, carrots, potatoes etc, dip/coat in oil and oven bake for about 10mins.

i haven't read all the posts but the disability discrimination act prevents anyone from being excluding from normal activities.

i've quoted it to get my dd a shower after school swimming lessons as she has eczema and couldnt swim without out it: so would be excluded by them if they didnt allow it.

try that?

We know an ASD boy who will only really eat baby food. His Mum discovered he liked choclate yoghurts so obviously this was great news and she would take them with her everyhwere. Honestly, some parents would stare and screw up their MC noses.
Why would you do that? Why would you give a shit? Especially if it's bloody obvious the child has special needs.
Rise above it heartmummy - just tell the managers what's what. It is majorly important that your child mixes. Her social skills will come on leaps and bounds. And it will do the other kids good to know the world is made up of many different strokes.
You probably feel back footed because you're DD has been so ill you're only just stepping your toes into the murky waters of kidzworld .

Well done you for sticking to your guns. There is no reason why your daughter shouldnt join in with the others.
The group leader should take in to account the situation you are in.

Ps If I ran a group there wouldnt be a problem.
