To put this under the windscreen wiper of cars parked where they should not near school!

Infant school is at the top of a tiny road only four houses long. It comes of a road that is residential and very long becasue it is circular. The school has for years been sending out notes asking people dropping children off not to park in the tiny road. The school has an agreement with the pub at the top of the road that parents can park in their car park and walk down to school.

There is a problem - school has provided solution.

So why do some parents think that they have the right to put my child and every one else at risk becasue they couldn't be bothered to leave early enough to walk the five minutes rom the pub car park.

If cars are parked in this tiny road - fire engines and emergency services can not reach the school.

I have watched this go on for years - and today witnessed four cars in theis tiny road - two parked opposite each other and even the other two could not then get out! So no way would an emergency vehicle get through.

I think the message needs to driven home hard hitting - than polite but firm messages from school.

Would IBU to put the following print out, that I have made up on any offending cards?

I wish Head teavcher would send it to parents but I bet she wouldn't in case children saw it.
I?m sorry Mummy.

Sorry that they didn?t care enough about me to take note of the warnings.
Sorry that they didn?t care enough about their own children to listen.
Sorry that they didn?t think that there would ever be a real danger.

I?m sorry Mummy

That you can?t hear me talk to you anymore
That you can?t feel my arms wrapped around you anymore
That you can?t feel my wet kiss on your cheeks

Why Mummy?

Didn?t they listen?
Didn?t they read?
Didn?t they care?

They Tried Mummy.

The firemen tried to get us out Mummy
They heard us screaming Mummy
They heard us calling for you Mummy

But they couldn?t

They couldn?t reach us Mummy
They couldn?t help us Mummy
They wanted to so badly Mummy

Do you know why they couldn?t Mummy

Because there were people who parked where they shouldn?t have Mummy
The fire engine couldn?t get passed Mummy
The cars were in the way Mummy

We died Mummy.

No declining standards for you Squonk!

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 15:40

LittleMydancing I never thought of that but it is random that for one hr a day you cant park on my road at least the council should do it during school run.

Your miserable poem made me loose the will to live FFS. Are you depressed? No, don't leave your odd poem on their cars, get an article in the local press about your crusade or start a petition.

aly16 · 12/09/2008 15:42

It is very annoying, but you are being very extreme. As RubyRubyRuby said they are not leaving their cars for hours and could move at any time. This has always been a problem and will never be fully sorted as there are always those who flout the rules. Chill out!

Spidermama · 12/09/2008 15:44

Jaynerae you've obviously got some major emotions building up over this and I can understand your point. It's nnoying when people ignore school p0raking directives.

I think some posters on here have been unbelievably rude to you though on something you clearly care about deeply.

I have to agree that it's a little strong and overly emotional -- the risk there being that people might not take it seriously and might be too defensive to think properly about it.

It seems you want not just to prick their conciences but to punish them for the anger you'#vwe suffered over the issue. Something simpler and less emotionally involved and less acusatory might be more effective in stopping them but I think you need to distance yourself.

Remember in their eyes they are just dropping their children off and breaking what they perceive to be a minor rule. They don't perceive themselves to be active blockading fire engines.

Good luck with this though and don't let the rude posters get to you.

All I can hear is dds wheedly voice.

Can I have some sweeties please mummy?
Can I have some juice please mummy?

"No, just DIE"

bloomingfedup · 12/09/2008 15:47

ffs. Get a life and stop being a busy body. TBH at Dc school people do park in inappropraite places and they should'nt but you are OTT. What a stupid poem.

suzywong · 12/09/2008 15:47

do you mean me, spidermama?
we know each other well enough to name and shame, I can take it

FWIW I am incandescent with rage about the 4 wheel drives that park nose on to the footpath at my kids' school. I complain to the Head and grumble and swear and mutter and it does drive me mad. But a 20+ line poem in style of a dead child is mental. I stand by my comment.

OP should try calling the local traffic warden to come down and issue tickets

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 15:47

Morningtownride lol

Helsbels4 · 12/09/2008 15:48

I know how infuriating it is when arrogant, lazy parents park on the yellow zig-zags outside schools because I live opposite my ds' school and their inconsiderate behaviour riles me beyond belief - especially when they also park across my driveway but if they are parked legally in your little road then I'm not sure what you can do about it tbh. If you feel that strongly then maybe you should make it your mission to get your borough council to paint double yellow lines or something similar? Our local PCSO's patrol every now and then and yes, it stops people parking there on that day but then it's back to the usual the following day. It really does annoy me why these lazy people cant park where they are supposed to and therefore put my children in danger because they cannot cross the road safely but I think that you will be eaten alive if you give them all a poem like that. I'm with Suzywong's idea .

BitOfFun · 12/09/2008 15:48

MorningTownRide, you have made me cry !

shootfromthehip · 12/09/2008 15:49

Suzywong, I concur. The poem is so far from reasonable it's ridiculous and therefore a strong comment seems to be in order to illustrate that to the OP.

CountessDracula · 12/09/2008 15:50

You could just scrawl
CHILD MURDERER
across their windscreens in lipstick

suzywong · 12/09/2008 15:51

GUFFAW@CD

jojostar · 12/09/2008 15:52

What if a resident parked there and had lost a child in a fire you even considered that??? My two cousins died in a fire aged 18mths and 3 yrs I think that story is a little harsh. Why don't you stand and ask them instead of leaving a note. Ask HT if you can put traffic cones out on there behalf half b4 start and end of day and anyway a fire engine could legally bump the cars aside that are parked in the way to get to a fire....I know how annoying it is especially those who park on the yellow school keep clear lines outside the gate so I understand what point you are trying to make but there are more effective ways to make it.......

MascaraOHara · 12/09/2008 15:52

CD lipstick!

Surely Pigs blood?? You are slipping.

SoupDragon · 12/09/2008 15:52

YANBU to leave a note on the windscreens explaining the situation.

YABU to post such a sh*te poem - it would make me more determined to park there

Spidermama · 12/09/2008 15:52

Not you specifically suzy as yours was at least funny. It's more the 'FFS get a life' type commments, and the sheer quantity of them, which I think are a bit unfriendly for someone who's clearly very upset about this issue. They're like personal attacks.

Nagapie · 12/09/2008 15:52

What should be considered here is that sometimes mums coming to collect elder siblings usually have a baby or a younger toddler in tow - taking a pram out or making littlies walk is sometimes not a feasible option... and it is only for 10-15 mins at most!!

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 15:52

the poem is distubing I am sure I have read one like that about teenage drink driving did not really need the poem

CountessDracula · 12/09/2008 15:53

oh yes
pigs blood
In a bucket, balanced over the driver's door

Then you can hide behind a tree dressed like this and watch them get it!

Spidermama · 12/09/2008 15:53

Come on now the poem isn't 'ridiculous' it's just very, very emotional. We're none of us at our most rational when we're upset about something so let's be gentle and supportive here.
