would you sit next to someone on the bus and start talking about your smelly washing machine?

would you talk to your postman about your cats piles?

MarkStretch · 09/09/2008 13:20

Yes. It's just the way I am.

2beornot2be · 09/09/2008 13:23

Daftpunk PMSL! but very true lol I suppose its a way to unleash ur problems without anyone knowing who you are also its easier to get the truth from a stranger than someone you know

AvenaLife · 09/09/2008 13:23

Once you spend time on here talking then these random strangers are not random strangers any more. You learn about them and they learn about you. I've met a couple of people on here in rl and they are lovely. It's a chance to make friends for some.

captainmummy · 09/09/2008 13:24

It's like reading a real-life self-help book.

In convenient bite-size pieces.

MorningTownRide · 09/09/2008 13:25

All the random strangers on here have achoice to listen to my ramblings an dcan switch me off

Bit more difficult for people on the bus.

2beornot2be · 09/09/2008 13:26

I must agree with AL and CM It's quite handy to read up on here and it is a sense of realise when you can seek advice on here

get the bus? do people really do that?

and as for the postman..he looks at me funny ever since the hakka incident

but no yanbu

PortBlacksandResident · 09/09/2008 13:27

I like the randomness of it. You never know what sort of questions will come up and when you ask something whether anyone will answer.

I've started threads which no one answered.

I've started threads that reached over 200 answers.

The first time i came on here there was a question about seatbelts in the back of SAAB 900s. And i could answer it.

I've never looked back.

DaphneMoon · 09/09/2008 13:28

Personally I would talk to the next person on the bus if a conversation arose. There is nothing wrong with a friendly conversation. I chatted to the lady on the till at S'burys this morning about birthday cakes. She described in great detail the cake she had made for her neighbour. I always think MN is like a giant coffee morning with lots of different conversations.

Tortington · 09/09/2008 13:28

this explains all

OneLieIn · 09/09/2008 13:29

I love it, makes a day go by!

Daftpunk, that is exactly what I do. I find the old people best, they'll talk to me at length about anything especially stuff they've heard on the wireless.

Bless the old people!

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 13:32

...however (I just thought) I wouldn't flash my fishnet- stocking legs at the postie and say "Do you like my fuck-me shoes" like I would here. He'd probably not ever call again.

psychomum5 · 09/09/2008 13:32

but I would be banned from the bus with the shite I spout sometimes....

on here, I can find like-minded people, or, they all think I am nuts but it is not so obvious so I can still preserve my dignity (what I have left anyway from giving birth and losing so much)

daftpunk · 09/09/2008 13:34

do you ever worry that everyone on here's nuts?

OP posts:
Mercy · 09/09/2008 13:34

My dd thinks it's a very odd concept!

MadreInglese · 09/09/2008 13:35

most people get on a bus to go somewhere thought, not to chat about random things

you know that everyone on MN wants to chat

MadreInglese · 09/09/2008 13:35

FFS though

mufti · 09/09/2008 13:36

you generally have to be dressed to use the bus, and you cant have a cup of tea in front of you

daftpunk · 09/09/2008 13:37

iv'e seen people "outed" on here ...two posting names arguing with themselves?

OP posts:
harleyd · 09/09/2008 13:38

im not nuts..yes i am..no im not..yes i am

MadreInglese · 09/09/2008 13:40

I reckon you'd make his day Meggle!!

2beornot2be · 09/09/2008 13:40

Is that true Daftpunk? Everyone is a little nuts.

I find mumsnet makes my days whizz by whilst I am at work and some posters on here are very very funny and come out with funny comments lol
