would you sit next to someone on the bus and start talking about your smelly washing machine?

would you talk to your postman about your cats piles?

I actually love casual chats with people on the bus, shops etc. Friends comment about this

ClosedForCleaning · 09/09/2008 13:42

Because conversations with my gorgeous DSs bore my oversized knickers off. I can smile encouragingly while pretending to work on my laptop - 'just like daddy'. I tend not to open the threads about cats piles - but it is genuinely useful to know how to solve a smelly washing machine castastrophe.

I don't go on buses because the DC have me under house-arrest.

daftpunk · 09/09/2008 13:43

yes thats true, it's just my dh asks me what i'm doing on here. ..he wonders why i want to talk to people iv'e never met, and never will meet?

its just because it is annonymous (sort of) and you can rant away and talk shite and really, if you get answers, great, if you dont, fark it!

MadreInglese · 09/09/2008 13:45

LOL JARM, very true!

OrmIrian · 09/09/2008 13:47

You are not random strangers.

Anyway, yes I probably would.

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 13:56

Shut up Meggle you silly heiffer...

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 13:56

oh yeh...

daftpunk · 09/09/2008 13:59

i'm a random stranger to you ormirian, you'll never meet me.

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 09/09/2008 14:02

SOrry. I meant 'you' as in everyone here. No, I won't meet you face to face, but are people really strangers if they've 'spoken'?

suzywong · 09/09/2008 14:04

ah, but it used to be like a dinner party in the good old days

random strangers I quite like
it's the pompous boring old fart passive-aggressive fluffies I cannot stomach

daftpunk · 09/09/2008 14:08

oh i don't know...it's the advice people give sometimes aswell...a woman could start a thread about her husband maybe talking to a women on the internet, (could be harmless) and 10 people come on and tell her to throw him out? it's crazy.

OP posts:
2beornot2be · 09/09/2008 14:13

I agree with Daftpunk there its abit nuts you do get some bitter women on the relationship thread telling u 2 throw your DP's/Dh's out for stupid things but I think were adults so its good to see what an outsiders perspective is on some situtions

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 14:13

but then another 25 will say try relate or poison him too.

ooh..now i'd never have thought of poison, see this is why we spend so much time on here

sometimes you see people being given good sound advice, but i do have to agree that sometimes its all a bit crazy

suzywong · 09/09/2008 14:16

back in the day, MN helped a woman leave a violent man step by step as it was happening by offering practical advice and RL help. No one who was around at that time will forget that.

daftpunk · 09/09/2008 14:26

that's great suzywong.

I got mumsnet book when I was preg before I had the internet. It was filled with loads of useful advice from real posts on here, which is how I came to be here now.

the advice is from real people with real experience.

No so called 'experts' who dont know shit!
