To think that newbies should be allowed to start threads that may have been discussed before without backlash

I am a longtime lurker on MN and have really been getting annoyed that when a thread is started that may have been discussed before there are immediately a whole load of posts saying this has been done before. Do these posters not realise that if they had seen the original they wouldn't have started the new one and want helpful comments rather than the curt - its been done before!

No, you are not unreasonable. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Every conversation it is possible to have on any topic under the sun has been done by someone somewhere at some point. If we were to all only discuss things that people had never discussed before MN would be fucking quiet.

The whole "we've done this before" or " not this again" or my all time favourite "yawn" all drive me frigging potty!! Why contribute to a thread at all, if the subject doesn't interest you? I don't get it.

The only thread I get bored of seeing endlessly is the "what to call your little girl's bits ones."

Yanbu. It is like saying, "Gosh, didnt we discuss the Taliban and Us fishing import last week? MUST we discuss it again?"

I think they sit there, after work, in their 4by4's, wearing their PJ's, in the disabled bays, Formula feeding their youngest whilst their oldest sits outside on the naughty step drinking a fruit shoot, huffing about their kids not being invited to a wedding, wondering what a mooncup is and thinking "It's OK, no-one will know I'm a newbie"

i agree

and yet some of the culprits on this thread also agree...

YANBU, its just rude to do the "yawn" and its always the same bloody people.

Even if a thread has been done before some people might want answers to their exact situation not another thread that might not go into as much detail as they wanted etc
