It is so filthy, and looks especially bad in the sunshine. We have a shared driveway and I hate that my guests have to see it as they arrive. If she can't be bothered to wash it (and she spends enough time smoking in the garden every day to wash it ten times over fgs) she could at least park it in the garage.

oh sapd- i really feel for you, my neighbours have recently purchased a trampoline - i mean the stigma, they also have a car that is nearly 3 years old. I have tried to mention the shame that these acts bring to the area, but they felt that i was being unreasonable!

Just had a thought!

We live in a very low-rent neighbourhood. Council tax and house prices are low. We came here deliberately to avoid snobby gits and the overly precious. But new neighbours have a brand new and much too shiny car. Should I complain about them changing the tone of the street. And maybe putting up council tax?

I hate dirty cars but I would never ask my neighbour to wash his - his is filthy. He house needs painting also but his garden is a picture - full of lovely flowers and loads of colour but at the end of the day, it is none of my business. (Actually his garden is too full of flowers - much too fussy for my liking) As long as he doesn't disturb me, what has it got to do with me?

SAPD - if she smokes and has a dirty car, why on earth would you want to stay on good terms with her. Just tell it like it is - she no better than she ought to be and should consider moving somewhere she would fit in better.

And I hope that when you wash your car you use 'grey' water or else water from your rain butt and that your (shared) drive is gravelled and not concreted with a run-off into the drains??

Using water to wash cars is an eco crime, deserving of a righteous mob on your own doostep!

hang on hang on, I'm intrigued by the washing thing. You can't hang it out overnight? What rubbish. Surely that's the time when nobody will see it? So do you traipse outside at 8pm to gather in heavy wet sheets and jeans, and put them...where?

a wind up probably but not definately i rented a barrats home once. and had complaints from the neighbourhood organsiation about my front lawn not being mowed often enough, allowing my friend to park their car on my drive and taking my bins out too early and not bringing them in early enough. apparently i was lowering the tone of the neighbourhood

i arranged for my friend to mow my lawn the very next day. we couldnt have the tone of the neighbourhood lowered now could we. and it didnt say in the letter that he must be fully clothed, not listening to pulp and oasis and not drinking fosters straight from the can whilst mowing the lawn.

i didnt get any more letters after that.

Had a complaint about the tree in our front garden this year. I'd have understood if it was the next door house but it was from the Bucket women over the road. She just thought it looked messy.

BW: Hasn't your tree got big?
Me: Yes
BW: It was so lovely in the winter when there were no leaves on it...

And it's a lovely tree too. Cleredendron with creamy white flowers and purple berry things. She has no soul.
