To ask my neighbour to wash her car?

It is so filthy, and looks especially bad in the sunshine. We have a shared driveway and I hate that my guests have to see it as they arrive.

If she can't be bothered to wash it (and she spends enough time smoking in the garden every day to wash it ten times over fgs) she could at least park it in the garage.

Umm- where do you live?

The 1950s?

highschoolmusical · 01/09/2008 12:16

They are good neighbours in other respects, they keep their garden neat and rarely hang washing on the line.

have I missed something? OMG - ia it an offence to hang washing out. Stepfordwife alert.

highschoolmusical · 01/09/2008 12:18

"Washing can be hung out but not overnight, that's reasonable isn't it?"

Get a life.

ScottishMummy · 01/09/2008 12:20

why dont you go live in here a scary regimentated town were even proximity of bin to street is regulated

priddy folk like you who are distraught by dirrrty cars could all gaggle together, tutting and tsking til your wee heart content

Lauriefairycake · 01/09/2008 12:20

She is not depressed.

You are an over-achieving, perfectionist loon who needs help.

If you don't change, welcome to a life of hardening arteries, stress and coronary disease

Ronaldinhio · 01/09/2008 12:24

Perfect Day I sympathise as you obviously are a nutter if this is serious

Oblomov · 01/09/2008 12:26

Ha ha. This is well funny. You have a SHARED DRIVE.
I.e. you do not have enough money/are not rich enough to be entitled to be snobby about this.

Oh this has brightened my day.

Oblomov · 01/09/2008 12:27

AND her neighbour smokes, you know.
Scum of the earth

FranSanDisco · 01/09/2008 12:30

You see I have this problem as well. I simply can't be arsed to wash my car. What ever happened to those lovely little bob-a-job boys who would willingly do these tedious chores for less than minimum wage. I suggest a campaign to bring back child labour to the suburbs.

Kewcumber · 01/09/2008 12:32

SAPD - you have no idea and are obviously a parvenu in a posh area. People buy spray on mud for their rangerovers around here don'tcha know. Shabby chic is classy

MatNanPlus · 01/09/2008 12:34

smokes outside Oblomov polluting her premium paid air tough turds i say

ScottishMummy · 01/09/2008 12:35

aye.get them wee weans up the chimmneys,up ladders cleaning windows, being subservient

if more of these children (whose parents have dirty cars) were forced compelled into car washing the suburbs would be more fragrant and reminiscent of erstwhile claen car times

Seabright · 01/09/2008 12:37

Have you children of an age where they can earn a bit of pocket money washing cars? If so, why not see if the neighbours want it washed?

You get a nice view, your kids earn a bit of pocket money, the neighbours get a clean car - everyone wins

SuchAPerfectDay · 01/09/2008 12:38

Gosh washing cars in the driveway is just as bad. It takes hours to dry up and I hate the thought of nasty chemicals running into my petunias. I have written to ecover requesting they start producing carwash, but I haven't heard back.

OP posts:
tamarto · 01/09/2008 12:40

She's clearly too busy bonking someones hubby to take it to the carwash, maybe you could offer to do it for her the next time your hubby is putting up her shelves

ScottishMummy · 01/09/2008 12:40

does one not have a wee amn with a shmmy to do the car dahling?are you too poor to pay?

EachPeachPearMum · 01/09/2008 12:41

Suchaperfectday -Have you just moved to WILTSHIRE??

SauerKraut · 01/09/2008 12:44

Excellent wind-up!! Whoever said move to Switzerland is spot on- as a messy family of 6 we get this often in all seriousness! But never face to face- get it right at least- you must have a residents' meeting, bring it up and write a snotty letter to the offending family, then continue to smile nicely at them every day while whispering about them to the rest of your like-mimded neighbours!

Neeerly3 · 01/09/2008 12:45
FranSanDisco · 01/09/2008 12:46

I would suggest selling but not in the current market. I think it's time to face up to the fact your area is what one would describe as lacking in certain social graces and as a result you should be ready to move as soon as the housing market recovers. If you don't you will slowly descent into similar shoddy practices. Chin up!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 01/09/2008 12:47

Before this dies a hideous death.

Damn you ScottishMummy for stealing my punch line.

Ah sweet Celebration, CA. Everyones dream, non?

Oblomov · 01/09/2008 12:48

Matnan, I think Op and I have a different idea of what 'premium' is.
How much has she paid for her house. NAME THE PLACE. Give us the postcode.
Have you paid more than 1 million for this 'shared driveway'
If not shut the f**k up. Work a bit harder. Or marry someone else. And more to a place that suits your ..... needs. Mrs Bucket.
