To be sick of the sight of Kate Moss!!

Art lovers have been offered a first glimpse of the £1.5 million solid gold sculpture of supermodel Kate Moss.

The 50kg statue will go on display in the Nereid Gallery of the British Museum, where it will be surrounded by beauties such as Crouching Venus, the goddess of love.

Is it only me that thinks Kate Moss is nothing special and totally overrated? (80% of my friends are better looking). She is a terrible role model and hangs around with very dubious people.

A solid gold sculpture? Why?

i completely agree with you. She is no role model (pardon the pun) - I don't see what all the fuss is about her.

That is barmey! i can think of better, much more deservedly people as role models, but still dont think anyone, not even the queen deserves a solid gold sculpture of herself! Who approves these things anyway? this country has got its priorities so wrong

See now I am getting to like her more and more....spots getting more obvious, looks fading, losing contracts to younger girls. The longer she stays in the limelight the better chance you have of showing your own kids how sad and empty it is to build a whole life based on being pretty, because you are only going to get knocked back when it all goes.

She is incredibly photogenic, but I have seen her / sort of met her in RL and she is not exquisite. You wouldn't look twice at her.

That's not the point, though, The point is the weirdy way the fashion world and media are obssessed with a woman who does...urm...what? Nothing of any significance, as far as I can see.

She is a very talented and sucessful model. She does not bang on about her private life, keeps a low profile and keeps her dd out of public eye.

I find it hard to believ that 80% of OP's mates are better looking!

phtographers she has worked with all say she is very good at her job - she does exactly what they are looking for and doesnt need to be told over and over again, very easy to work with and is v professional

IE doest matter waht job you do if you are good at it you will go far

i saw some photos of her in the national portrait gallery on tues, they are intriguing as they are the only "real" photos I've seen of her

hate her mogelling pics, it would actually put me off buying any of the wares she advertises (if i could afford them!)

you never see her selling her private life off in Hello etc

and when all the coke stuff broke, she just carried on

other z list types would have been pictured sobbing entering the Priory or something equally vomit inducing

There was a stunning photo of her in the British Journal of Photography about a year ago, can't remember the name of the photographer or I'd link it.

It was very harsh lighting, without a scrap of makeup, no retouching whatsoever, and for the first time I could absolutely see what the fuss is about. She is astoundingly symmetrical, with incredible bone structure. Really breathtaking.

I don't think it's misogynistic to say that modelling is a vapid, shallow profession and that the horrible, superficial arse kissing world that is the fashion world is really a not very nice place, filled with not very njce people!

...or that I don't think Kate Moss is beautiful because, unlike the fashion bosses and designers and media moguls (most of whom are old men, many of them gay), I don't find emaciated, scruffy androgynous women particularly attractive.

Oh, and I modelled for a while in my teens. OK, so I was more C&A catalogue than Dolce e Gabbana's Milan shows , but trust me, you don't need talent to succeed! you just need to have the face that fits and be very, very thin.

Oh, and seeing as Kate Moss has made millions for herself and all the fashion houses pedalling an the illusion that beautiful women have to be size 6 and look about 14 yrs old, I don't feel that much sisterly solidarity with her
