AIBU?

To think that MN is too cliquey for me?

I've been on this thing for a month or so, i started off quite enthusiasticly posting all over the place but for the last week or so I've been a 'silent observer', because I've lost heart.

Whenever I've posted either a) post ignored completely. Even if what I've said is echoed by an 'old timer' a few posts later, its the old timer that gets acknowledged not me. End up thinking why do I bother offering advice??
b)Threads die a horrible death

This was really noticable on the 'profile update' thread when I was busy telling everyone how beautiful their kids are etc only to receive "oh, yes thanks for that" but no mention of my beautiful darlings (however no biggie - cos I really don't need reassurance that they are beautiful cos they truly are just stunning!!) However I do think its just common courtesy to respond the compliment.

That said, occasionally I have had some nice responses, to which I've shown gratitude at the time, but sadly they have been very rare.

I just wanted to bring this up so that all you old timers are aware that some of you can be pretty cliquey and please can you start welcoming and acknowledging the newbies a bit more.

I've changed my name, BTW.
MN NEWBIES EVERYWHERE UNITE!!!!

I posted on the Profiles thread and no one said anything.... its not the end of the world!!
I get ignored a fair bit but I still read threads, I still post and I still chat on MSN to people I have met through MN.
Its not all bad.

I don't think it is cliquey at all, I've only just really started posting properly over the last few weeks and I am pretty thick skinned having been around some internet forums before. You can take me or leave me and I can do the same with you.

factually it is less than a week since the last clique thread

Perhaps there should be a clique for people who think MN is cliquey? They could sit around discussing how terrible it is that everyone else ignores them...

I never read profiles, unless the person wants you to comment on it in the thread.I think I have read less than 5 in total.

The only times I look at profiles is to see what else a person has been posting on, usually because I wonder if I'm reading their post correctly and think that a few more examples of their posting style mught clarify things.

And yes - where have you been Kay? How's things?

I've been wrestling with the trials of a crap computer and a temperamental connection speed. That and serious family illness, serious family insanity (Dad - 'No, you are not allowed to speak to your sister, because she's not speaking to my girlfriend' Me - 'Grow the f*ck up, you loser' etc.) and all that fun stuff. Need to update the blog.

I only read profiles if someone suggests I should. It just takes far too long for my computer to load up an extra page.

Sorry to hear that - all sounds like a total hassle for you.

Oh dear. I was hoping you were going to say you'd had a nice holiday in the Bahamas or something. Next year, eh?

Ah, yes, 'tis all an elaborate cover for the fact that I am actually Cherie Blair and I've been enjoying some yachting freebies for the last few weeks. You'd just never know because I'm so clever at concealing my identity.
