in thinking 7 is too old for a child to be in a pushchair with a baby's bottle of milk???

next-door neighbours child is fully able bodied, is always running round the garden, up and dopwn the street etc, so i know there is nothing wrong with her. I know her son is 7yo at least as in the early summer i heard her mother saying he was ''only 7yo ffs'' to the older child when she'd caught them playing with matches in the garden...

this afternoon i saw her leaving the house with him in a pushchair and had a baby's bottle with milk in it too!! She's also knocked on my door asking if my kids had any 'spare dummy's for her kids to get to sleep'....

am i the only one who thinks he's way too old for this???

Who are you to judge how someone else parents their child? How do you know she isn't having a bad day/is ill/is depressed?

My soon to be ex sil had a dummy until she was 7.
She grew up to be pretty normal.

I'd be more worried that they were playing with matches in the garden.

But yes, it would be odd for a 7yo to be in a pushchair with a bottle.

i've seen her kids jumping on the roof of a broken shed, spray painting their garage door with graffiti, and she's constantly screaming at her kids (thin walls) and thats no reason for a 7yo to be in a pram and drinking from a babies bottle- its not the first time i've seen him in a buggy or having a bottle either, just the first time i've seen him doing both at the same time!!

Well, tbh I can't get too worked up about this. It doesn't really MATTER, you see.

If she was forcing him to do this against his will to fulfil some need of hers, then you could say it was out of order/damaging, but if she is simply letting him do this because he wants to, and he is happy, then what the hell.

My lads wear nail varnish from time to time, cos they want to. Have dressed up in my clothes. The other day ds2 (8) got into a neighbours childs pushchair. so what.

I mean if he needs to and is anxious then that needs addressing, but if not then he's just a little kid, playing.

They grow up so fast these days and we forget they are so so young. 7 is tiny, it really is.

No, it's crap. But it all sounds crap tbh. NOt sure the buggy/milk combo is the worst of it by any means.
Mind you, I scream a fair bit and worry constantly about the neighbours

yes i think 7 is far too old to have a dummy /suck on a bottlle/be in a pushchair. yes. and i judge heartily.

having siad that-ds1 did go to sleep in ds2's buggy once when were stuck at an airport overnight. does that count?

TMMS- my DS (3.5) will sit in DD's (2) pushchair every now and again when she's walking, and she's only really walked when we're out in the last 6mths or so, and until then he'd walk everywhere, but i mean he was tucked in like a baby... half led down and sucking on a babies bottle!!

You are judging someone without having much of a clue about their lives.

Yes it's odd. And the dummy thing is too.

no problem atall with a 3.5 year old being in a buggy. they are still little.[very about the bottle though) but we are talking about a 7 year old-not a 3 year old.

sorry TMMS- was using my DS as an example that an older child is allowed to have a rest every now and again (like your DS did)

Perhaps she is finding things hard. Perhaps he was feeling unwell and wanted to be babyfied for a few minutes. Perhaps he does have an illness that isnt constant or obvious to you.

well he is sworn at on a daily basis- myself and DH have heard her screming swear words at both boys!!

and i wasn't saying that the pushchair were a big concern (the other things i've seen are far worse, and i have considered reporting her to SS, but have always put it down to 'bad days', 'depression' or something so far.... just seeing him like that today just touched a spot in me!!

Hmmmm, wonder what the response would be if the OP had said that this mum was still breastfeeding her 7 year old.....
