MIL is in a rest home. Nice little place, quite impressed so far. But they have a cat, and I don't like it going into her room. I think it's unhygenic to have cat hair about the place, with delicate lungs and general elderly ill-health. I've asked them to keep it out of there or get rid of it. They have refused.

lou33 · 05/08/2008 21:39

pets have been proven to be beneficial to patients recovering from illness or operations, in a therapeutic sense

aside from you personally dont like the idea of a cat in her room, what exactly is wrong with it?

does it piss on her bed, shit in the corner, scratch and spit?

HotToddyRumPunch · 05/08/2008 21:40

Because I am rather more cultured when it comes to animals. What question?

groan STOP feeding it!

objectivity · 05/08/2008 21:42

Ooh!Ooh! Tell me which beasts you would deign to entertain?

HotToddyRumPunch · 05/08/2008 21:43

I never said it was more important. But it certainly should have some bearing on the matter, and they completely dismissed my hygiene concerns.

Hottoddyrumpunch - thankyou so much for this thread. My father was in a care home before he died, he had alzheimers. All his life he had cats, grudgingly, always said he didn't like them (whatever dad ) The carehome had a cat that used to "visit", as in, it lived nearby but obviously loved all the attention that it received from the oldies. My father used to love that cat jumping on him and would look for it all the time. "tib tib tib". That "disgusting animal" gave my father some small chink of respite in what was a very frightening and distressing time for him and us. So yes, thanks for this troll really fucking clever!! Maybe you are bitter because one day you were licking your own arse and disappeared up it - get over yourself.

Why do you keep mithering on about cultural differences?

HotToddyRumPunch · 05/08/2008 21:45

objectivity, I have made it quite clear I wouldn't entertain any beasts in a bedroom.

I am quite happy to have a budgie in a lounge.

Cats are extremely clean creatures.

I suppose you don't like the way humans shed their skin cells and hair all the place either?

objectivity · 05/08/2008 21:48

Budgie in a lounge
Hamster in a Hammock
Cat in a Crack

lou33 · 05/08/2008 21:49

oh i quite like an animal in the bedroom

gentleman in public though

HotToddyRumPunch · 05/08/2008 21:49

Well, really. I don't think there's any need to make this a personal argument. I shall leave you all to your feline fan club.

hmmm, pssitacosis, coccsidiosis, all diseases that i can't spell, but conditions that are not serious in those who are healthy but lethal to those immunocompromised, you know, like old folk. Carried by birds!! Budgie in the lounge - Tosser

Im not a big cat fan, or a big fan of cats but i think you are being an arsehole

lucyellensmum · 05/08/2008 21:51

troll or not, i have still found this upsetting

theSuburbanDryad · 05/08/2008 21:51

All over the place, sorry. (Must preview posts)

theSuburbanDryad · 05/08/2008 21:51

Don't let the stupid troll upset you LEM.

Tortington · 05/08/2008 21:53

i thought this was a pretty good troll

  • made me smile
HotToddyRumPunch · 05/08/2008 21:55

'tosser'? 'troll'? Should I grade you on friendliness? My word, what an unpleasant way to treat someone with whom you disagree. I think some people just enjoy a bunfight. I didn't realize it was quite so acceptable to have animals in private spaces. Obviously I have now been educated. Having bored you all to extreme hostility I shall return to lurking.

theSuburbanDryad · 05/08/2008 21:57

HTRP - can you answer my question about humans shedding skin cells and hair before you go please?

HotToddyRumPunch · 05/08/2008 21:57

lucyellensmum, my purpose was not to upset. I'm sorry you have been.
