MIL is in a rest home. Nice little place, quite impressed so far. But they have a cat, and I don't like it going into her room. I think it's unhygenic to have cat hair about the place, with delicate lungs and general elderly ill-health. I've asked them to keep it out of there or get rid of it. They have refused.

I loathe cats, but YABU. Pets are very therapeutic and good for the spirits. If it bothered her, that would be a different matter...

if she shoos the cat out when you come cos you don't like it being in there what's the issue?

HotToddyRumPunch · 05/08/2008 21:28

objectivity, that's in very poor taste. This is about cats, not sex.

Is this a wind-up?

lou33 · 05/08/2008 21:29

you are not the one living there, your mil is happy, why isnt that enough for you?

objectivity · 05/08/2008 21:29

I'm not even going to go there about taste - in case you are for real unreasonable.

wannaBe · 05/08/2008 21:29

trippity trap.

allergictohousework · 05/08/2008 21:29

can it about sex instead of cats ... if it's a wind up it would be soooo much more interesting that way round

TheArmadillo · 05/08/2008 21:29

if she doesn't answer Tmmj's question I think that would be proof of a wind up.

I.e. drop more info but never answer any of the points raised.

HotToddyRumPunch · 05/08/2008 21:30

Yes, we do help towards the costs. My husband doesn't have an opinion, but I'm sure if I told him to be appalled by an animal on a bed, he most certainly would!

JodieG1 · 05/08/2008 21:30

Well someone on this thread sounds quite up their own arse and it isn't the cat...

allergictohousework · 05/08/2008 21:30

can it be about - sorry!

objectivity · 05/08/2008 21:31

this is boring me now. everyone stop feeding the troll.

JodieG1 · 05/08/2008 21:32

If you told him to be appalled then he would?

allergictohousework · 05/08/2008 21:32

think the comment about husband confirms troll status. yawnorama.

lou33 · 05/08/2008 21:33

i think there would be a lot of humans licking their own arse if they had the ability to , like cats

i still dont understand why the op is fed up when it is her mil who lives there, and is happy with the set up?

unless she doesnt want her to be happy for some reason

bythepowerofgreyskull · 05/08/2008 21:34

I really hope that when you are old you are in a totally germ free clean environment, it will be soooooooo boring for you

fgs let the lady live happily for the years she has left.

Honestly, I thought you would all be reasonable, but throwing insults around is quite uncalled for. I didn't realize I had stumbled on a site for cat lovers.

The information about cats being therapeutic is certainly interesting, but I'm still shocked by the inclusion of animals in intimate places. I shall chalk it up to cultural differences.
