To be annoyed by mothers who make a big show of crying at the nursery but...

Yes, they can't wait to tell anyone who will listen how they couldn't stop crying for the first few weeks of dropping off LO at nursery. And then, hey, before you know it, they're skipping off on a weekend away with DH - and LO is left high and dry at home with the grandparents. And there is not a word about it.

MI, a whole week sounds lovely. I hope you have lots of revelry planned

Anna8888 · 23/07/2008 14:31

"We don't want our DC to be away from us overnight."

Why not? Lovely for them, lovely for grandparents, lovely for parents and a vital part of growing up. It's win-win-win all round.

EffiePerine · 23/07/2008 14:32

Last night without DS? March

mutter mutter mutter

Thomcat · 23/07/2008 14:32

Purely conversational - why would you not want your children away from you overnight? Is there a reason why not? And I really am just asking in an interested sort of way.

MI - yeeeessssss sandpit easier, but don't for a second imagine I didn't also have to clear some off the carpet too!!!!!! The little darling!

If someone had said " I cried buckets for days" I'd have said "oh I'm so sorry" and probably wondered about their state of mind. Crying buckets FOR DAYS would be concerning imvho.

Have to say my eldest 2 stay at Nana & Grandpa's every now and then, in fact have an overnighter coming up. They LOVE it. It's like a huge treat. They have their own room sthere, loads of toys, in fact the room at Nana's house is better than their room here! What's not to like? They love it, massively, Grandparents get special time with them as 2 litlte girls crawl into bed with them and they eat coissants in bed etc and me & DP get a lie in and some ...you know... private adult morning time etc.

I really can't understand why anyone would not think that's a great thing.

Oblomov · 23/07/2008 14:39

My sil is like gateau. She says she will never leave her children overnight. I don't understand that.

EffiePerine · 23/07/2008 14:39

malory, If you want to continue being nasty and bitchy, sniping names like "Mad", "control freak" anbd "boring", then do it with someone who has the time and inclination. I'm not interested.

Grandparents very excited and already have little trip out planned for the morning.
DP and I intend to get very, very drunk and be very very lou enjoy being in a hotel and have sex, in the morning, what a treat, and then go back to sleep again before picking girls up.

Ohhhh bring it on, bring it on.

Gateau - why is it that you don't want to leave your kids overnight. I really am interested. I'm being conversational not confrontational.

WideWebWitch · 23/07/2008 14:49

One of the things I find hardest about having children is not being able to have loud sex whenever we want. Have a lovely time Thomcat.

(do the rest of you live in huge houses or not have loud sex or what? Someone start a thread aye?)

Thomcat · 23/07/2008 14:50

LOL Malory. Believe me getting v v drunk is v v necessary!

Gateau · 23/07/2008 14:50

Ditto to icod. Yawwwwn.....
Glad I've got you both so worked up.
