Would it be very unreasonable to tell you all how clever DS1 is?

He got level 7 for English and Science and level 8 for Maths in his Yr 9 SATS

Tis the highest he could have got (apparently Yr 9 can't get higher than a level 7 for English and Science as of this year)

So I am boasting about my clever, lovely, funny, wonderful boy

Have to add that Yr 9's are expected to achieve level 5.

Squirdle · 18/07/2008 21:25

Funny thing is, he is a clever, clever boy, but his first love is music and drama. he wants to go into the performing arts as a career.

We've done a deal though, he is going to take Maths and English A levels just to give him good sound qualifications.

what a clever mini-squirdle .

i am going to boast a bit too, about my lovely ds who's just finished yr 1. he got a fab report, & his teacher said he'd been a joy to have in the classroom. and then today on the last day of school he got a special headteacher's award. we are so proud of him .

juneybean · 18/07/2008 22:08

Awww well done! :D

I remember my year 9 SATs, got 5 for science and english and 7 for maths...think I might have cheated as I have no idea how else I have got a 7!

Wilkiepedia · 18/07/2008 22:09

Well done! God if we can't be proud of our children then it's a very sad state.

Well done little man.

Threadwworm · 18/07/2008 22:10

Are the actual SATs results assessed differently from the teacher-assessed levels, then? DS1 is at the end of year 8 and assessed at 7c for English. I'm confused by 5 being the year 9 level.

Well done him

(Don't make him do Maths A level though Squirdle - it is much much harder than GCSE, nobody needs it unless they're going into engineering or something, & it's a waste of a choice of something he'd rather do. English OK, Maths no!)

AbstractMouse · 18/07/2008 22:25

Well done him

I also agree that maths is evil at A-level, our
teacher once enquired if any of us were interested in visiting the oxford maths dept, or carrying on for degree. There were large tumbleweeds.

MrsJohnCusack · 18/07/2008 22:37

I did MAths a level and all it's done for me is give me a recurring nightmare about waking up and having to sit my pure maths paper! wish I'd done French or HIstory of Art instead

congrats to all these clever children

Squirdle · 19/07/2008 09:03

But he's so good at Maths! I do accept that ultimately it will be his choice though.

Hmm, maybe German, he is very good at that.

Thready, level 5 is the level they should be getting at the very least. Your son is obviously good at English if he has been predicted a level 7 already. DS1 was working at level 6/7 in Yr 7 for all of the core subjects.

He is very bright...just a shame he is so bleedin' disorganised....like DH....who is also a bit too clever!

We have been so lucky with DS1. He is really a very charming young man. He isn't rude, doesn't grunt like a lot of teens, he has a fab social life, thinks he is funny and gets on well at school. He really isn't any bother. He has lots of interests, which I think is good for a boy of his age...I would hate for him to sit staring at a games console all day...lathough there are times when he does.

I'm sure the 2 little ones will make up for it

Well done all of those other clever children too
