To want to get a job as a cleaner, despite being shite at cleaning my own house and being overqualified.

What do people generally expect their cleaners to do and would it be reasonable to expect to do it in 2hrs a day? DD is starting playschool in october and what will i do apart from waste the morning because that is not enough time to get a "proper" job. I am going to return to full time work when DD starts school, possibly teaching but we need some money and i fancy it, i'm not sure why. lol - my mum was a cleaner, perhaps its in my blood.

So, 2 hours a day?? And how much should i charge, i am in Kent. My cousins wife does it for £5.50 an hour and im not prepared to work for that. I was thinking along the lines of £7-8 is that reasonable?

you could offer a extra special thorough cleaning service for £7-8ish i bet.

Going rate round here (Bath) is £7-£10. I pay £7.50. In two hours my cleaner

• hoovers and washes all my floors (that includes picking up stuff from playroom floor)
• scrubs the high chairs
• cleans the bathroom and loo (not very well, lol)
• de-limescales the sink
• changes the beds (either our bed or both boys')
• does a bit of ironing

and usually has time for another little job. It's an Edwardian three/four bed terrace, not huge. I wouldn't expect any less in two hours. If you think you can be that quick go for it.

NOthing wrong with being a cleaner, I too am shite at cleaning my own house and have a university education but I am a cleaner at the moment.
It fits in with the dc's as I do it in the evenings when dh comes home.
Can't help on the hourly rate, as I do industrial type cleaning - very well paid

i would pay someone £10 to come in and do my ironing for 1 hour everyweek, that would keep on top of it and just leave me a small(ish) pile to finish.

we do have a ironing company that picks things up and brings them back but they charge a bloody fortune and i would worry about things going missing.

If you are shite at cleaning your own home then I think you are being unreasnable to expect someone to pay you to clean their home.

I have a cleaner at odd times - she adores cleaning, is delighted to think that her customers will walk back through the front door and think wow isn't my house lovely and clean due to the fact she takes pride in her work the work she does it a really good standard.

If you were really shite at gardening - would you get a gardening job?
If you are shite with animals would you get a job in a zoo?

Better to get some type of work you are not shite at and then ask people to pay you for it

i had one and my main gripe is she was never coming at the time she was supposed to. she thought coz i was usually in all day it wouldn'tmatter.

but i couldn't plan anything for around when she was due as i couldn't be guaranteed she'd be on time!she'd be either early or late. made it really difficult to work out when she was supposed to finish. kinds think she did this on purpose.

Ah yes, did you do much work on prions? Is that still the big thing in yeast? probably moved on since i last stepped into a lab, nearly four years ago. I miss it strangely. Although you do not know the meaning of frustration until you have pulled yet another brain clear of the cns - lmao, i'm begining to rock back and forth. Yes, cleaning is a far more attractive option, and quite frankly, less smelly than yeasts.

$7-8 is about right for london no idea around you. It doesn;t really matter how shit you are at cleaning your house only how good you are at cleaning theirs.

I'm an accoutant and I never balance my own cheque book.
