that an 11 year old wiping his dirty bum on MY handtowel is unreasonable!!

Are you ready for this one!

My two stepchildren were up this weekend, after they had gone home I had a tidy up, I went to change the handtowel in the downstairs loo and there was poo on it!! I then noticed that the loo roll had run out so obviously the lazy little tike decided not to shout one of us and wiped his arse on my handtowel!

I waited for hubby to come home and showed him and he just shook his head in dismay! I get on famously with both my step sons, but this is just disgusting! How embarrassing for my husband to have to tackle them about it, how can they possible think its OK to do that, especially as we have got a baby and I've been washing my hands in the loo and using that towel! Oh my god my stomach turns thinking of it!

Any suggestions how my DH can broach the subject, obviously they are going to deny it! One is 15 and one is 11, I think it was the 11 year old as surely a 15 year old wouldn't do that??

Eeeuuwww!! Filthy little grot whoever did this!

Just have your Dh tell them together that a house rule is that arses are wiped on toilet paper not hand towels (as the name quite obviously indicates!!). Then show them where the spare rolls are kept. Hell maybe even put a spare or two on the toilet whenever they are over to stay

Hopefully this should be enough to sort them/him out.

Yes, its disgusting. Tell them both together, don't single one out as they will both deny it and you can't be sure.

I wouldn't say anything. They'll probably only get embarrassed and deny it.

Just stock up on bog roll when they come round next.

Totally agree with lazarou. He'd be mortified to be confronted with this. I know it's disgusting, but it's not like he makes a habit of it - he was obviously caught short and when the time came, he looked and no toilet roll - rather than be embarrassed by shouting you, he used the available item.

Let it go, and make sure there's toilet roll!!!

Tis quite possible that they were so embarrassed about needing loo roll and not being able to find any that they improvised.

I know it seems absolutely disgusting, but I am trying to think of what I would have done, at that age, being painfully shy and terrified of all bodily functions (and especially discussing them... with parents!!!!)

Put it down to experience and make sure that you never run low on loo roll when they're staying again.

Of course if it happens again, it needs dealing with.

I agree with fartmeistergeneral (apt name!), I don't think you should make too big a deal of it. let his dad mention it not you. What is your relationship with them like usually? You sound a bit OTT about it tbh

Why confront them? You really dont think they dont know wiping bottoms on towels isnt ok? Isnt it good housekeeping to keep extra loo rolls in the toilet?

What did you exepct the poor mite to do? He was probably too embarassed to ask for loo rolls, seing as he got caught short.

Just put it down to experience. Extra loo rolls in the toilet.

Either someone was lazy, or they were making a statement about something. Assuming there were no upsets about anything, we can presume it was laziness. I think the best way to broach the subject would be "you'll never guess what we found after you'd gone home......" and address to both boys generally. Then follow on by reminding that hand towels are just for that- drying clean hands after washing. Point out leaving it there soiled was impolite and unhygienic, as others have to share the use of it. Accept there was no loo roll, but emphasise that they could call someone to ask for one. Having said that, it could be embarrassing to do that for some teens. Make sure there is always loo roll available in future, to prevent any recurrence.

As an aside, my DH has a fear of being caught out in public loos with no loo roll, so he always takes a bundle of it in his trousers back pocket wherever he goes! Might be a useful tip for the stepsons.

Agree with the posters who said why bother confronting them - they'll just deny it. Extra loo rolls next time.

Your DH needs to broach the subject with them both. I do think something needs to be said. Very out of order for kids of that age, I would have thought..Are you sure one of them isn't trying to make a statement though?

Boys this age are generally grubs and I second the idea that he was probably too embarrassed to mention it, then forgot about it. Let it go. Wash the towel, saving it to show dh is a bit imo.

Oh I love that film Lazarou. I have a few probs like this with my stepchildren, I think they do things piss me off though. We get on ok ,but they are exceptionally loyal to their mother and I think they like to make things up to make me look bad.

Forgive me but LOL at the horror of that!

I think in future when they come and stay there will be enough loo roll in your loo to wipe the Arses of a million people!!! No danger of it happening again!

Very odd but he just has to have a quiet loving word surely?
