I have looked after her ds for the whole of the term- she was very grateful and ds was delighted that his mate came and stayed for tea once a week. She told me that her son was very fussy about food and she didn't feed him any junk- she gave me an idea of the stuff he likes to eat (although most of the time when I served something up he would ask me what it was ) But didn't seem fussy in way , shape or form.

I was a bit stuck today and she said she would collect ds from school. He has only just gone to bed now because he was so hungry he would have eaten a dried up old turd and has blitzed the contents o f the fridge. When I asked what he'd had to eat all afternoon he told me dairylea cheese FFS.

I called her to find out what else he had eaten and she confirmed that's what they both ate because she didn't have anything else in. Hw tricky is it to make a bit of toast or at least tell me he was hungry/didn't eat.

I may aswell have MUG written on my head. I feel like such a twit and that she has completely taken me for a ride.

if it was a last minute thing maybe she genuinely had nothing in and didnt want to drag your ds and her ds to the supermarket? and perhaps she didnt want to go down the route of fish and chips incase it upset you!

i agree though she should have given them more than that but she was doing you a favour so i dont think you would be able to say anything without coming off ungratefull!

He told her she was hungry, she told him to eat more cheese. Like a mug I am feeding her kid frou-frou a la to her taste with mung bean sides.

Last minute as in I couldn't have him today and told her yesterday.

It's very odd to give a child a single dairylea triangle for tea but maybe they said they weren't hungry or there was toast on the table that they ignored or something.

I can't believe she had an entirely empty fridge apart from two single dairylea triangles.

It is a bit odd but she hasn't "taken you for a ride" - that's a bit of an odd reaction I'd say. Surely you don't actually think she was actually trying to get a nourishing meal for her son off you once a week and to deliberately fail to pay back by only giving your son something worth 12p?

I would be annoyed, as DS2 is allergic to triangles.

waht time were you due to collect him? i do dinner here at 5:30pm - 6pm ish a snack after school is generally something small like a yoghurt.

if i was picking up a friends dc i would necassarily make dinner early unless they actually said "can you pick up x and give them dinner?" id otherwise presume they would be having dinner at home once collected!

perhaps the triangle was just an after school snack and she thought that you would be feeding ds once you collected him?

I can see why OP thinks her friend was taking the piss -as if you say that your kid only eats wonderful stuff for dinner - but it turns out that she regards dairlylea as a balanced dinner, there's a discrepancy somewhere.

it's not the end of the world, he came home hungry, you fed him. Don't make it into smething bigger otherwise you won't have her to call on in an emergency
