to want an Amby Nature's Nest? - my work colleagues were horrified when I mentioned it

What if baby springs out? and babies need to lie with their backs flat, and won't it suffocate when it rolls over.etc etc..so now I am doubting it - any opinions or experiences would be greatly received.

Used it for 2 babies, who haven't died, bounced out, don't have flat patches, have fantastic balance and muscle tone..

Of course I didn't also have 2 control babies in cots, so make of it what you will!

But yes, thought it was fab. And easier to use than a travel cot when you go away (it's their own bed, y'see. And although when packed it's longer, it's much less chunky.)

they are lovely...growing use of them in hospitals so they must be safe. IME baby is "hugged" gently by the fabric so can't roll over or sit up when little. I loved ours because when we went away we could fold it up and take it along, so dd felt safe and cosy wherever we went. And when she stirred in the night I could just reach out an arm and bounce her gently back to sleep without emerging from the duvet

the bouncing motion is very gently and natural, similar to what you'd do if you walked them around the room... so its not like a baby catapult!

They're gorgeous! Lots of clients have used the amby nest and loved it!

Another Ambi nest fan. Baby does not spring out and you can get an inset to stop them rolling.
Baby sleeps very well in them and the design can help plagiocephaly and reflux.

I don't know why they were so hostile to it, - it makes perfect sense to me. Plenty of moses baskets and cribs having rocking stands - it just a step up from that I think.

Got it for DD when she was a tiny thing and would not sleep in the moses basket. She slept even worse in the nature's nest and then I discovered that she could roll over and wanted to sleep on her tummy (not possible in the nature's nest obviously).

So I thought it was a hideous waste of cash and shoved it in garage UNTIL DS2 popped along and is a crap sleeper and is huge so grew out of the moses basket quickly. Tried him in cot and he HATED it so gave the nature's nest a dust down and he much prefers it. For the first time in four months he is taking long naps in the day and only waking twice at night (was many many times).

Sooooooo in conclusion.....may be a waste of money but may be a boon!

By the way there is no way that they can spring out - even if sibling jigged really hard. They can also not roll over at all.

Oh, and the clip on bouncer is fab!

ITs wonderful, and for daytime naps its really saved mylife as you can rock them to sleep (until I tried this DS would only sleep on me in the daytime)

I want one aswell mil was saying is there anything you want for this baby that you haven't got? I showed this to her and she just said well I don't know why you can't just have a moses basket like everyone else

ours (nature's nest) lasted a year, so much longer than a moses basket, having had one non-sleeper (i.e. woke every 45 mins day/night for 1st 9 months+) i was willing to take a chance on it helping. dd2 slept like a star and would rock herself back to sleep when she woke (or we could boing her). i got a bit concerned about transition to cot but she's handled it with barely a murmur.

We put the ambi nest over the cot and it seemed to be a fairly smooth transition.

sorry, nature sway not natures nest, the one with the poncey twirly stand you can't get any more.

I think they look fab and may get one depending on whether we get given a cot or not

DD slept in the natures nest until she was 8 months and started crawling - I put her down for a nap and caught her arms and shoulders over the end of the bed kicking frantically . She's fine, still sleeping well although in a cot and definitely using it for next baby. BTW it was recommended by a friend who is a senior pediatrician at GOSH who said they use them. I think if it caused problems/increased risk of cot death etc she would probably have told me!

Blimey if I had known these existed when mine were tiny babies I would have got one. They look lovely and very comfortable.

I had one for dd2, liked it but didn't love it iyswim. dd2 didn't seem to like the boinging motion at first but rapidly got used to it. I found it very hard on my back getting her in and out.

Overall I'm glad we had one but didn't find it miraculous as some people do, I guess it all depends on the baby and you don't know til you try! They hold their value on Ebay quite well so if it doesn't work out you can sell it on.

Everyone who saw DS in his thought it was great.

The baby gets the final vote and mine loved it, I couldn't imagine using anything else tbh, It will be your best buy, promise.

he felt secure, snug and amused himself by jigging around when he woke up
we had to put him into a cot when he started to want to sleep on his front, though, which was a shame, but while he was in it, it was brilliant

dd2 in hers at 12 hours old: gratuitous newborn shot

My youngest ds would not sleep at all, and screamed in protest at moses basket/cot/etc. I tried the amby nest and he slept contentedly in it. I think it is fantastic, and for more 'natural' than a moses basket.
He had an oddly shaped head as a newborn, which meant he could not lie down on his back, because he could not breath properly because of the angle this made with his neck. The amby, being made of fabric, is much more 'giving' and he was much more comfortable in it.
