It brings textspeak, illiterate teenagers and unfortunate body piercings to mind. Mainly because my slightly unstable emo sister uses the 'word' with alarming frequency.

Must we stand by and allow such language on Mumsnet? [pedant]

YANBU - it gets to me also

Desiderata · 08/07/2008 22:17

Yes, it climbs aboard my tits and settles there, too!

hunkermunker · 08/07/2008 22:17

I think maybe you have ishoos?

LittleBella · 08/07/2008 22:17

No I love it.

It's ironic, isn't it?

policywonk · 08/07/2008 22:18

Is it the concept you dislike, or the cute misspelling?

notnowbernard · 08/07/2008 22:20

I don't object to someone having Issues

Why ishoos though?

IAteRosemaryConleyForBreakfast · 08/07/2008 22:20

It's the "cute" [retch] misspelling.

OP posts:
unknownrebelbang · 08/07/2008 22:21

I quite like ishoos.

hunkermunker · 08/07/2008 22:22

You've missed the point of it, I think.

If I say someone's got "ishoos", it's said in a Les Dawson-esque bosom-hitching pisstakey fashion.

It's more of a dig at the person with said ishoos - see?

IAteRosemaryConleyForBreakfast · 08/07/2008 22:24

It just irks me.

Like many things irk me totally irrationally.

I realise the context it's used in, I just loathe seeing it.

Maybe this was one for pedant's corner

TheMagnificent7 · 08/07/2008 22:33

It takes me long enough to think around the acronyms, let alone cutesy spellings. And while we're on the subject, I don't mind a good old swear sometimes, but not all over perfectly nice websites. I think the language is atrocious.

Perhaps we should have longhand traditional mondays, txt spk toosdy, AW (acronym wednesday), pikey f**kin' firsdee, and friday just let the boozers take over

TheMagnificent7 · 08/07/2008 22:34

Actually, yes. Let's go to pedant's corner. I'm getting old.

IAteRosemaryConleyForBreakfast · 08/07/2008 22:35

DP and I both had a good LOL at your AW suggestion, M7

When I joined I was on a thread for hours, and then had to ask what an OP was because I'd got it into my head it meant single parent. What a P

Desiderata · 08/07/2008 22:37

My God, Mag, your hypocrisy is breathtaking!

luckylady74 · 08/07/2008 22:39

Can I firmly state that on a recent thread I was being ironic re Magnificent7's previous comments re what she described as an op's issues- I would never use the word without provocation - it makes me want to run away too.

hunkermunker · 08/07/2008 22:40

That's the sound of me missing something...!

TheMagnificent7 · 08/07/2008 22:41

Oh hello desi. Didn't noticed you'd posted here. I thought that was a nice turn of phrase about your tits. Much more amusing. Now don't start any of your nasty swearing here. We're trying to be clever and funny. You have a go.

TheMagnificent7 · 08/07/2008 22:43

And did I miss something ? Have we issues about 'ishoos' or is the issue over 'issues'. Pass the tissues, his shoes, etc

Desiderata · 08/07/2008 22:46

TheMag7 has just told me to fuck off on another thread.

Now I don't mind that, particularly, but the hypocrisy is a little hard to take, especially as there was no swearing from me.

IAteRosemaryConleyForBreakfast · 08/07/2008 22:49

[coughs nervously and backs out of thread]

OP posts:
hifi · 08/07/2008 22:56

maes me lol when someone says it, i love it.

TheMagnificent7 · 08/07/2008 22:57

Erm...and I quote..."b. Andy Murray is a c*t". Did you not know that c*t is a very nasty word. Its no wonder you can't get a book published is it?

You've got ishoos love. Now far cough.

TheMagnificent7 · 08/07/2008 22:58

And, for those with difficulty understanding, whwnver I repeat or emphasise with any swearwords, they are always starred out. I wouldn't have a t-shirt made or anything...
