To sleep in the car tonight ?

Dh and I both had a long day at work. I was telling him tonight that all I wanted was a hot dinner before I went out because I am so cold. He suggested my favourite takeaway.. He ordered on the app, added DC order too .. and then placed the order. I was like "what about me" ???? Dh said he didn't think I wanted anything ... err i had just spent 20 minutes telling you.I was so cold and was looking forward to a hot dinner tonight. Dh got shitty, i stormed out. Went to the local cheap eat place for a table for 1 .. they were fully booked.

I feel like turning my phone off all eve. Im now at a friend's house. And maybe sleeping in the car. That will give him something to worry out.

It's been an awful week in general. My mental health is shot to pieces. Despite that, I do everything for everybody at home. Only to be treated like this.

This is the straw that broke the camels back for me

Don't sleep in the car but consider a Premier Inn for the night and then consider if you really want to be with someone so selfish.

Itiswhysofew · 28/10/2026 19:23

Why did he do that?

NoShitHere · 28/10/2026 19:25

Did he say why he didn’t order you any?

Itiswhysofew · 28/10/2026 19:26

But no, don't sleep in the car. You dont deserve that afterd the awful week you've had. Go home and tell him he's on the sofa tonight, or in spare room, if you have one.

FarTooOpinionated · 28/10/2026 19:27

Apart from tonight, do you normally say ‘nothing for me’ when they order takeouts?

Bored11111 · 28/10/2026 19:27

Could you not just or called up and added your meal or put another order threw

ezzzyboy · 28/10/2026 19:27

Apparently I had told him I didn't want dinner .. despite that I had just spent 20 minutes telling him in the car about being cold and wanting warm food. To add, the cold and hot food chat was had while I PICKED HIM UP FROM WORK

Never ! I love food !

Couldn't help place another order for your food?

So basically he doesn't bother to listen to what you are saying. Is that the issue?

It was a just eat order, no idea if could change that once placed. I was not going to pay another delivery charge for a separate order. DH hasn't even messaged me to say sorry. I've turned my location off and plan to stay out alll night .. car or hotel

Well, he obviously is going through life doing his own thing, I suggest you start doing that too.

Don’t pick him up from work for starters.

Boreded · 28/10/2026 19:30

Seems like he made a mistake and you blew up and stormed out.

He definitely is an idiot who needs to listen more, but your reaction was so over the top, you should have just ordered again for yourself, it isn’t difficult.

It’s not like he purposely didn’t feed you 🤷‍♀️

QuietChristmas2026 · 28/10/2026 19:32

Can you stay at your friends house?

will your children worry?

FarTooOpinionated · 28/10/2026 19:32

Did he order for himself aswell as dc?

Left · 28/10/2026 19:35

Apart from this… What’s he like in general?

takealettermsjones · 28/10/2026 19:35

This is really annoying, I understand you OP. It's not really about the takeaway - well it is and it isn't - it's about not feeling listened to. And even if you hadn't even mentioned wanting a hot dinner, he didn't actually consider you by asking if you wanted anything before clicking submit.

Don't sleep in the car; you'll have an awful night. Have a nice time, vent to your friend if that's your thing, and then communicate properly tomorrow. Tell him how you feel and what you want - i.e. I felt like I didn't matter when you didn't ask me if I wanted anything before you ordered the food. In future please will you check with me, even if you think I don't want anything - etc.

INeverReallyLovedYouAnyway · 28/10/2026 19:35

I mean…is he a prick in general? Or has there been a communication fail and he’s made a genuine error?

To give him the benefit of the doubt, if you usually would eat together I feel like there must be a reason he’s taken from your chat that you didn’t want anything

He absolutely purposely didn’t feed her.

who orders a takeaway for two out of three people in a household? Without at least checking “sure you don’t want anything before I press go”?

MabelsCatMabel · 28/10/2026 19:37

"feel like turning my phone off all eve. Im now at a friend's house. And maybe sleeping in the car. That will give him something to worry out."

Don't play games.

Message to say you are upset and staying in a travel lodge or something. Then sit down and chat about problems like adults.

Livingoverseas123 · 28/10/2026 19:37

He was thoughtless. You over reacted. You could have just added your order.

Staying out all night is a childish and unpleasant behaviour. You will worry him and you will worry your children. Grow up, Go home.

This is the perfect response.

user1471538283 · 28/10/2026 19:40

No one does this! He ordered for everyone except you!

Get a lovely dinner and go to a Premier Inn where you can have a lovely shower/bath and a long sleep. You can then think about how to handle things

I couldn't get past this. Whoever is around at ours gets at least asked if they'd like food and with our DC that was often lots of people!

He didn’t listen and mistakenly thought she didn’t want anything. It makes him an idiot, but it definitely wasn’t intentional.

Why would he intentionally not feed her knowing the hassle it would cause 🤷‍♀️
