Would you spend your 50th at Disneyland?

Would this be weird?

I'm definitely not a Disney adult 🤣
My Dd has wanted to go for a few years, by my 50th (just over a year away) she will be 9, and it feels like time is running out to take her and for it to be magical.
As cheesy as it sounds, i'm happy to go as it makes me happy to see her happy. Of course I would rather be on a beach in Hawaii, but can't afford that and love Paris and we can see the sights and show her Paris too

It just seems a bit 😂 to spend your 50th there. The last time I was in Paris was for my 30th when we got engaged

I love Disney, I am 45 now and just took my 9 year old daughter, we both loved it. Disney is great for all ages! My Mum took us for her 50th and we were all in our 20's, do what you want and don't worry about what anyone else thinks!

BeckhamsBalls · 26/10/2026 19:30

I did for my 50th, just me and my husband, we had a week in Paris staying onsite at Disney, so we got to explore Paris too.

On the actual day we drank wine from the stalls (it was just after Xmas) did lots of rides then went to the Royal Banquet for a meal, Mickey brought out my cake - it was my best birthday ever!!!

Wallywobbles · 26/10/2026 19:33

I’d rather poke my eyes out with the brush end of a toothbrush.

bababamama · 26/10/2026 19:35

I’d go for that, but be in Paris for your birthday. 2 days is plenty in Disney btw, it does do your head in. Last time we went the kids were teens, that was brilliant because they were in the parks and we were in the German pub in Disney village each afternoon Grin

Createausername1970 · 26/10/2026 19:38

Haven't been to Paris, only Florida.

I loved it, but American relatives who live in Florida and go fairly regularly say Florida Disney had gone downhill a bit over the last few years.

But as a concept, I would have happily spent my 50th there.

Aligirlbear · 26/10/2026 19:44

No ! I would rather stay at home . It’s your 50th make it about you. If you want to take your DD to Disney make it her 10th birthday gift / surprise. Using your 50th to entertain your DD is actually sending her a poor message for later in life that as an adult your needs / wants / likes come second to someone else

Bananalanacake · 26/10/2026 19:54

For my 50th next year we are going on a cruise then going to Disney World Florida afterwards, We've already done it twice, (all 4 parks) and I love it. My dds are also 9 and 12.

PigeonsAmongstTheCats · 26/10/2026 19:57

No I wouldn't. It's very much my idea of hell. But I'm an adult without children, and Disney adults freak me out.

Honestly, I’d rather spend it banging my head against a wall.

Agreed. I wouldn't go if you paid me.

Bunnycat101 · 26/10/2026 20:34

I would do something you really want to do and then do Disney for her 10th. In practice there is not going to be any difference in the experience of a 9 or 10 year old. I went when mine were 3 and 6. The youngest was a tad too young if I’m honest but my 6 year old was in princess heaven and really believed in the magic. I think if you want the ‘magic’ you’re really looking at ages 4-6. I think at 9 your daughter will already be a little past that side of things but when they’re older they can enjoy the rides and the shows and experience Disney in a different way. I don’t think it’s any less enjoyable- probably more so as they have more stamina and can manage a full day better. I wouldn’t rush to do it at 9 versus 10 unless it’s significantly cheaper.

If I had grandchildren I would yes. Wouldn't go without children though. Not in my 50s. 😬

I spent my 40th at Disney in California before going on a cruise.

To be fair to the OP she's not a Disney adult she's just a mother who thinks HER birthday should be about pleasing her child.
@Headdoesntfeelclear No! Disney is hell and you can offer your dd to go for HER birthday. On your day you should do something YOU enjoy. You do deserve it!

It is NOT great for all ages. Disney is for children and Peter Pan adults. Most adults do not enjoy it and the few I've met who do seem really immature in general.

I spend my anniversary in Walt Disney World EVERY year.

My friend and I went to Epcot food and wine festival this time last year and it was all adults there.

Why do people who don’t understand the appeal of Disney always have to shit on it…like it says a lot about them as people that they cannot just accept that other people like something that they don’t. Or do you do this if someone likes ballet or classical music, or a different type of movie from you, maybe they like sport.

There is nothing wrong with liking Disney. In Florida in particular it is incredible, if you don’t like it yourself then fine, but why be so bitchy?

LuckyHazelFox · 26/10/2026 21:35

Love the place. It's perfect for your 50th because there's so much to do and take in to make it magical. I did the Seine dinner cruise after a day at the parks and it was divine. Go for it.

CaptainMyCaptain · 26/10/2026 20:03

Agreed. I wouldn't go if you paid me.

You wouldn’t have a free holiday, that you’d earn money on whilst there…course not 🙄

There’s nothing quite so divisive as Disney is there…I don’t understand the hate

Boreded · 26/10/2026 21:38

Headdoesntfeelclear · 26/10/2026 12:07

Well the Paris part itself would be lovely
I can't really afford that and money on much else, I don't fancy a big party or any attention etc, so I can't think of much else

You’d have a whale of a time. I have yet to find any person who did not enjoy Disney (unless they went with a bad attitude towards it)
