The drive we share is completely blocked by this behemoth tree-

neighbour has said they rent and the clear up is nothing to do with them

i I can’t get to work

any advice

I’m fairly certain if I got a friend the drag the tree off into the main road it would get shifted fairly soon.

anyone had similar

Phone your insurance. Thats what it's for. Then they contact/claim against the neighbours insurance

GinAndJuice99 · 26/10/2026 10:50

FinanceHo · 26/10/2026 10:49

Let’s say there were ten of us to drag it out of the way -it’s massive we’d have nowhere to drag it where it wouldn’t then obstruct the main road

no photos for obvious reasons

what obvious reasons?

chirrupybird · 26/10/2026 10:50

Any neighbours have a chain saw, cut it up yourself enough to get round it anyway.

nomas · 26/10/2026 10:50

worreidaboutdpnow · 26/10/2026 10:48

So your not trapped in your home then. You just cant drive your car over it. And you mentioned dragging it in to the road so it cant be that much of an issue.

It sounds like OP meant that had the tree fallen on the pavement, there would be more help available. But it hasn't, it has fallen on private property so the council won't be interested.

Well a diagram would be good.

Round where I am, a call would go out on whatsapp and a couple of people and chainsaws would arrive to sort it out in a couple of hours (with trailers for the wood ;) )

Do you have a local facebook/whatsapp group you could call out on?

No I’ve not been here that long and work very long hours- I only know my next door neighbour as she takes parcels in for me and the other neighbour who I know on first name terms - no WhatsApp groups that I am aware of

I think finding a local Facebook group is a great idea

Why are you being so passive? If you own your house and they rent theirs, you sort the removal and bill them for their half, they can pass it to the landlord.

And what happens if the landlord refuses to pay?

And why does OP need to pay half?! It's not her tree. The tree is the responsibility of the property owner where the tree is planted.

Namenamchange · 26/10/2026 10:51

If it's really big and unmovable, I'd asked the letting agent for a plan by say 4pm, and then i'd start posting pictures on facebook tagging the letting agent in.

It's a tree on a shared driveway, you can't visualise that?

Weirdpig · 26/10/2026 10:52

In our area, tree surgeons go and sort things like this without charge, with a Facebook post showing them saving the day.

FinanceHo · 26/10/2026 10:52

GinAndJuice99 · 26/10/2026 10:50

what obvious reasons?

I don’t want to identify where I live

Bloody hell, why so snarky?

OonaStubbs · 26/10/2026 10:53

Get an axe, chop it up and sell the wood to local wood-burner owners in the neighbourhood. It's a win-win situation for all.

nomas · 26/10/2026 10:53

GinAndJuice99 · 26/10/2026 10:50

what obvious reasons?

It would make the property identifiable.

Cla7 · 26/10/2026 10:53

‘Trapped in our home’ sounds a bit dramatic. I was coming here to say call 999 as I would call this a genuine emergency. After reading your post and realising that you are actually not trapped in your home but can’t use your car, I’d see if the tree can be moved with help from some neighbours, and if not, find an alternative solution to get to work - car share, colleagues, public transport, WFH if possible in your line of work, while this situation is being sorted by the landlord and letting agents.

nomas · 26/10/2026 10:52

No. I want to see how big it is.

That sounds very unlikely. Unless you are The Waltons.

worreidaboutdpnow · 26/10/2026 10:53

No. I want to see how big it is.

It's massive and needs 10 people to move it. Chat GPT can recreate it for you if you ask it.

nomas · 26/10/2026 10:49

Why not read all of OP's posts first?

Why not stop picking on people?

The thread title literally says she's trapped in her home.

I didn't join this thread to have to answer to you and your mood.

Cherry8809 · 26/10/2026 10:55

If the tree has fallen due to a storm:

Storms or "Acts of God": If a healthy tree falls down during high winds or a storm, it is considered an accident. The tree owner is generally not legally liable for the damage or the cost of removal. Each party usually pays for clearing their own side or splits the cost.

nomas · 26/10/2026 10:54

Absolutely

all the local tree surgeons out here only work for money.

It would make the property identifiable.

but you can take the photograph with the property behind you surely

WLBalancing · 26/10/2026 10:55

I understood what the OP was saying immediately. Some people really enjoy being unnecessarily obtuse.

GreengrocersApostrophe · 26/10/2026 10:55

Lol at everyone with "move it/roll it/drag it".

Even softwood (pine etc) can average around 500kg/m³.

Op why aren't you throwing it onto the road, with one hand 😅
