The drive we share is completely blocked by this behemoth tree-

neighbour has said they rent and the clear up is nothing to do with them

i I can’t get to work

any advice

I’m fairly certain if I got a friend the drag the tree off into the main road it would get shifted fairly soon.

anyone had similar

What's the face for?

It was a serious question.

Because if you read OP's posts, she has explained that she can't get to work without her car. So climbing over the tree doesn't help her.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 26/10/2026 10:43

Not really much your neighbour can do if they’ve told the letting agency. Some landlords don’t care about pissing people off cos they don’t have to live there. In your shoes I’d contact my own house insurance and see what they say.

Soontobe60 · 26/10/2026 10:43

If it’s small enough for someone to drag it into the road, it’s small enough to get round!

FinanceHo · 26/10/2026 10:41

Even if I could I definitely couldn’t walk the motorway journey to the arse end of nowhere to work. No.

last time I checked my tin can car dint have a tree-sport mode either

You said you were trapped in your home.

So you cannot get out your front door is what I thought you were saying...

Ponoka7 · 26/10/2026 10:43

Have you phoned your home insurance to see if they cover removal? It doesn't matter were the tree came from, it's on your (shared) driveway.

According to the OP she's 'trapped in her home'.

Ponoka7 · 26/10/2026 10:44

Also can you drag it out of the way? If it is blocking your access, this is your issue to solve, as well as the landlord's.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 26/10/2026 10:46

Why can't you and the neighbour drag it out of the road?

SwanRivers · 26/10/2026 10:46

Soontobe60 · 26/10/2026 10:43

Yes, this is what I was thinking.

I got the impression the OP couldn't get out of the front door, then when she said one person could possible drag it into the road, I thought she might be able to climb over it.

If she's not trapped in her home, she can drag it herself and move her car.

Namenamchange · 26/10/2026 10:46

How big is the tree and can you move it? can you roll it?

Soontobe60 · 26/10/2026 10:46

nomas · 26/10/2026 10:42

She also said that she could get a friend to drag it out of the way. So it’s only a small tree - she could try moving it herself?

Wistfultearia · 26/10/2026 10:46

Has your neighbour told the letting agency? That should be enough. Otherwise if you can't shift it, you'll have to explain to work that you are unavoidably stuck at home and keep pestering the agency.
Unless a colleague lives nearby and could pick you up from the end of your drive?

Seeline · 26/10/2026 10:47

As you are entitled to prune a living tree back to your boundary, I can't see that there could be a problem with clearing bits from your property when it as fallen down. I reckon the FB post asking people to come and chop/collect what they want is a good one.

nomas · 26/10/2026 10:47

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 26/10/2026 10:42

Well yes, that's all that can be done now. It's out of op's hands. It's unlikely to be resolved before op needs to get to work is what I meant.

Yes, agreed, if the agent has been informed they need to take it up with landlord now.

Although OP mentioned dragging the tree. Maybe friends and family could move it to her neighbours side of the driveway because it's their tree.

With a 4x4 I cannot drag it myself it’s massive 🤣

That's a good idea. And people often rally round in these situations, someone might come and chop it up as a favour.

Yes, if that's a possibility I would do that, I have suggested it to OP upthread.

Namenamchange · 26/10/2026 10:48

if you put a photo on we can help with ideas, you might be able to twist it out the way

worreidaboutdpnow · 26/10/2026 10:48

So your not trapped in your home then. You just cant drive your car over it. And you mentioned dragging it in to the road so it cant be that much of an issue.

FlatCatYellowMat · 26/10/2026 10:49

Round where I am, a call would go out on whatsapp and a couple of people and chainsaws would arrive to sort it out in a couple of hours (with trailers for the wood ;) )

Do you have a local facebook/whatsapp group you could call out on?

Lexy2345 · 26/10/2026 10:49

I would post on the Nextdoor app and ask for volunteers to come and help move the tree. Most people are good in a crisis.

Let’s say there were ten of us to drag it out of the way -it’s massive we’d have nowhere to drag it where it wouldn’t then obstruct the main road

no photos for obvious reasons

Why not read all of OP's posts first?

PressedThistle · 26/10/2026 10:49

Why are you being so passive? If you own your house and they rent theirs, you sort the removal and bill them for their half, they can pass it to the landlord.

Limeandfigs · 26/10/2026 10:50

Your neighbour can no more shift the tree than you can. This is one of those things that's no one's fault and you just have to deal with.

If the letting agency has been informed then you either need to sit tight, make your own arrangements to remove the tree, or arrange a lift with a colleague / friend / family member.
