To be really scared by this messaging from the government?

As someone who really struggled during the pandemic this has really scared me. I have done a big order of hygiene basics to arrive tomorrow (12 x packs of wet wipes etc) and will be heading out for a stock up shop tomorrow to fill up on tins etc.

I’m considering ordering 12 of those water refills for water coolers and a pump that fits in the top, but I don’t know if that’s overkill. I alone drink 4-5 litres of water a day, plus cooking water!

I am really scared. How is everyone else dealing with this?

@Didimum i made a similar comme t upthread. I have the radio on daily, and look at BBC News online. Granted i dont buy papers or watch tv news. But still. At no point have I seen/heard it mentioned other than on mumsnet.

I have heard it on LBC.

The news can't be everywhere all the time. The word spreads beyond it, through social media and word of mouth.

@sookiestjames77 is “really scared” by this message. On the basis of how @sookiestjames77 comes across on this thread, I am “really screwed” about them!

You obviously don't look at/listen/watch the news daily then because this has been discussed since early September. Don't blame your ignorance on others.

Are you ok? 😂 I literally said I have the radio on daily, (hourly news) and look at bbc news online. What part of that is not looking at/listening to news?

Three of Britain’s four nuclear-deterrent submarines are out at sea.
At least one of the ships is armed with ballistic missiles which carry nuclear warheads, while the fourth Vanguard-class submarine, HMS Victorious, is undergoing maintenance at Devonport, The Times reported.

Experts said the other two ships were likely to be carrying out sea trials and preparing for operations.

One Navy source told the newspaper that the deployment was “unusual” while a second former senior naval source said the Royal Navy had operated with two vessels available “for ages”.

The entire premise of operating a fleet of four was that any any given time one would be in repair/refit, one on standby, one on active duty doing training, and the last out on active patrol.

This has never worked because they vastly underestimated the wear and tear on the machines, snagging issues taking forever to deal with, constant need for repairs etc, meaning more often than not one was out on an abnormally extended patrol with the other three laid up.

The fact they've finally managed to get somewhere approaching the original deployment plan is not an indicator they're operating at a heightened state of alert, merely that they are finally getting close to what they were supposed to be doing all along.

Quite so, but I did not assert that the RN were operating at a heightened alert state.

I am content that the we have an active and credible deterrent, however.
