To be sick of people being so negative about the things Burnham is putting into place

Nobody thinks they’ll fix everything but he’s doing small things that can be actioned quickly and will drastically improve aspects of our lives that have got worse over the last two decades - parking fines, music on trains, vaping on public transport. They’re all small things, yes, but they will make things a little better.

He’s not said anywhere that he thinks that doing these things will save Britain. So why are people acting like he has said that?

After Sunak, Truss and Johnson he's a bloomin god send! Noone is perfect but jeez he's got a LOT of mess to clear up after 14 years of Tory neglect.
The 'Great' British public have shockingly short memories. Give him a few months atleast.

Yes they forgot Blair and Brown pretty quickly didn't they.

I don’t plan to answer just so you can continually ask me Q’s.

Tell me why Burnham is the right person.

First question I asked you 😂

He is the right person because he is the PM. He doesn't have a magic wand but things are looking better than posters like to acknowledge. We all know that Trump's war has changed things and there are no simple solutions.

Don’t forget clearing up two years of Starmer’s & Reeves’s mess.

I was disappointed with Starmer and Reeves but I think it was the IMF who said recently that the UK economy was is surprisingly good shape.

Good. Typical accusations but unnecessary.

Surely, AI will replace most local government and government officers?

The mess that’s made us the fastest growing economy in the G7, the only country consolidating its debt, the one that’s halved immigration - that mess?

PM in name only, and if we otherwise apply your logic, Truss was the right person because she was also the PM.

I disagree that ‘things are looking better’ and even before Trump’s Hormuz adventure, Starmer and Reeves were presiding over a deterioration in public finances and other economic metrics. Look at youth unemployment, look at the out-of-control welfare budget etc.

fashionqueen0123 · 20/10/2026 21:42

It’s just people online complaining about it, bots and idiots going on about boats.

They did a radio phone in about this today and everyone was very happy about the car parking fines and plenty of people who were now in court or had bailiffs coming etc due to a small mistake. It’s the type of crap that can mess up someone’s financial life.

SubstandardMotelsOnTheLa · 20/10/2026 21:42

Minniena · 20/10/2026 21:27

What do you mean ‘goes unclaimed’? There’s plenty of people that could claim but think they should stand on their own two feet if they are able. This is a good thing.

You misunderstand. It is about unfulfilled eligibility in existing claims.

Around 10 in 100 PIP claims have unfulfilled eligibility due to functional needs. Claimants have not informed DWP that they need more help or that their condition has deteriorated and so are recieving less money than they should be.

Which runs counter to some of the claims made about people on PIP.

Where has the YTD growth come from?

Truss was indeed the right person at the time, she was elected as PM by the Tory members.

Ofcourse she crashed the economy and we are still feeling the effects.

So who would be the right person to lead the Labour party according to you?

Burnham - there is nobody else, as the PLP knows full well.

We also have the highest interest rates in the G7 - meaning investors rate our credit the worst.

I know you are, you have been since they won the GE

Badenoch can't get her numbers right and Farage has other issues to sort out,

Not for long. France and Germany’s are about to go up.

10y gilt yield is 5.42%, 10y bund yield is 3.42%. That’s 200bps less confidence bond markets have in the UK vs Germany. And our bank rate is going up in November (and probably February as well).

Absolutely. Also typical are views that anyone who likes the current Government is a hard leftist. Totally unnecessary.

Watching the brilliant "Saving Lives at Sea". The RNLI is a a brilliant organisation and I'm proud to donate to them. 🛟

Odd you feel the need to mention that on this thread, but OK.

SubstandardMotelsOnTheLa · 20/10/2026 22:23

It's as relevant to the thread as the mentions of PIP claimants, immigration, "fighting age men", Islam etc.
