Dh made fun of my boundaries

Tonight my dh tried to grope my boobs whilst the baby was asleep next to me. I have asked him so many times to not do it when the children are around as it makes me feel really uncomfortable. Tonight I added that it really triggers my ocd too and to please stop. He got up and said it’s not even that sexual and stormed out the room. I’m so upset and I have no clue how to handle this as he just doesn’t understands and emotional and mental health stuff at all. Please help a

It’s not awful that he cuddled ger boob but it is awful he has such an aggressive tantrum about being not no, not least as the baby was there

Funny you’ve translated “gropped ” from the person who experienced it, to cuddled (something cute and harmless).

I'm a lone voice here, but these responses are insane!

He's being a complete twat and it's right to let him know, but he's not a stranger touching OP up on the night bus!

(Yeah, yeah, I can hear you all now, chanting angrily about my internalised misogyny with your pitchforks and flames on sticks)

You don't think you should expect more from your husband than a pervy stranger?

Yes. Interesting.

Honestly, the emotional and mental health stuff isn’t even relevant. Nor is this a ‘boundary’. Let’s not cloud this with therapy speak and psychobabble.

You told him not to grope you, so he shouldn’t grope you. He isn’t entitled to your body. He is sexually assaulting you. Don’t be confused, be angry.

Absolutely agree.

It's not mental health, it's not therapy speak, it's a simple matter of consent.

No means no, the end.

I remember my dad telling me that a lot of men get very jealous once baby is born. (My dad had a dim view of those types of men and was trying to pre-warn me.)

Yup, it’s definitely a thing, and it’s grim!

Doesn't look like OP's coming back. More's the pity.

We're here when you need us.

No he's not a stranger. He's someone who knows and supposedly loves OP. Knows it distresses her and makes her tense. Yet still he persists.

He can't claim he didn't know she doesn't like it. He's putting his desire before her needs or even basic decency in front of his children.

FFS, how low is your bar??

Besidemyselfwithworry · Yesterday 17:18

MrsTerryPratchett · Yesterday 01:09

No he's not a stranger. He's someone OP should feel completely safe with, who should care about her comfort and enjoyment, and her boundaries around her body and their children.

She's told him. He did it anyway. You do know that's sexual assault. Actually legally.

Precisely this!
a sad excuse of a man

Each time he grabs your boobs, grab his balls. That’ll make his eyes water and he won’t to it again.

Boob grab=punch in balls. Fucker.

Or grab them and twist!

Bollocks. I don’t know any woman whose “cup is filled” by loving her children. It’s a different cup. And she will only want it filled by someone who she trusts and wants to drink with! I’m fairly sure most women who go off sex and intimacy with their H while their DC are young aren’t ‘fulfilled’ by motherhood, they’re fucking exhausted by it.

I’m sure the happiest marriages are the ones where both parents have an active role in bringing up their children and all the household peripheries associated with it, giving women the time and energy to want sex with their H.

The type of Neanderthal man groping his wife in front of his kids almost certainly isn’t pulling his weight at home and making her feel emotionally safe and cherished in other ways.

OP you deserved to feel safe from being molested in your own home and bed. We’ve all seen in recent years the terrifying extremes of this situation, where men feel entitled to their wives’ bodies whether she consents or not.

Some of the pick-me posters on here should really have a long hard think about what behaviour they’re condoning when they excuse his groping as a husband wanting intimacy with his wife. He’s immature, disrespectful and doesn’t seem to give a shit what you want as long as he gets to feel up the female body next to him.

You’ve tried asking him not to, I’d tell him he’s not sleeping in the bed with you until he can control himself. If he doesn’t listen then he needs to move out.

You can hypothesise what you like .. the reality is that showing no interest in your partner sexually will result in him leaving.. if that is ok with you then crack on.. no one would blame you and most of us would support you…

but what is right and what is real are two completely different things…

If you are completely fine with him finding sexual interest in another person because you are not interested in him anymore and quite happy to do this alone then good.. there is nothing else to say ..go for it !!

Hope you can pay for it all alone or find a partner s to share ..although he won’t love them as much because not his kids ..

im sorry it comes down to this but there is ‘what is reasonable ‘ on paper and real life .. show him affection and have sex with him or split up and see them half the week .. this is the import bit .. the courts these days start at 50/50… put out or see your children every other week.. is it right - no, is it fair .. no .. is it real ??? Yes

I think @Isittimeformynapyet is getting a disproportionate amount of focus. My sense is that she was pointing out that the OP used the word "groping" to describe an attempt by her husband to fondle her upper body. Groping is a serious offence prosecuted as Sexual Assault under the Sexual Offences Act, so my reading is that @Isittimeformynapyet was pointing out that that choice of the word "groping" was perhaps not what OP wanted to express but signifies OP's understandable frustration with the situation.

OP needs to sit down with her husband and explain that she doesn't like to have physical intimacy while the baby/children are present. If OP is happy having physical intimacy with her partner, she should explain in which circumstances that is desired. Communication is the way to fix this.

If OP does truly view her husband as a dangerous serious sex offender, then she should contact domestic abuse charities, make a criminal complaint, and pursue formal separation.

I believe she had previously asked him on multiple occasions
'I have asked him so many times to not do it when the children are around as it makes me feel really uncomfortable.'
Why the hell should she have to repeat herself to a grown man?? Totally disrespecting her.

The OP has already said they have discussed this yet he still continues to carry on with this behaviour. He's just not listening to her.

Well, at least he recognises that his behaviour is off putting

What an army of straw men.

Not wanting to be groped in front of your baby isn’t the same as showing no interest in your partner sexually.

Even temporarily being touched-out in the early stage of motherhood isn’t the same as being okay with him leaving to get laid elsewhere (like that’s the most important thing imaginable for a new father).

It’s not a choice between “have sex now” and “see your child half the week”. What a fucking stupid and reductionist thing to say.

It's not ok carrying on doing something you know your partner doesn't like as they've repeatedly told you so.
