Christa Pikes is awake and ‘talking’

She’s out of the coma and talking to her lawyers. Aibu to think the state of Tennessee can’t possibly try to do the lethal injection again ? Surely not? People on Reddit are suggesting she might need an amputation of one of her arms because of how caustic pentobarbital is.

boohoo
if she really wanted she could have sped up her penalty- a man did this recently, refused appeals and accepted his mandated fate.
I have no sympathy that murderers continue to live decades on so-called death row- the victim didn't have the opportunity of one more minute- that's where my sympathy lies.
Any decent person would not put their victim's family through years of appeals- then again, I guess most in this cohort don't have a great moral compass

Exactly!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I dont have a query. Im stating my opinion as I am free to do so.

Oh, my mistake.
I thought that your post "Why would a God make people suffer so much" ..
was a question.

Yep! It’s disgusting! At least in America in some states they treat scum how they should be.

Not necessarily. A crime this horrific would have almost certainly been awarded a whole life sentence.

Um, they choose to be on death row so long - with do you think it is? It's not the state's doing, it's because they're running endless appeals trying to get out of it. The prisoner could choose not to appeal if they preferred, then they wouldn't have the death sentence hanging over their heads for decades and the state could get on with applying the sentence it gave out.

You think they shouldn't have a right to appeal even if they are innocent, or even if it is manifestly wrong for the death sentence to be imposed?

If you don't know care about the words you use, and you don't know or care about pertinent information regarding the penalties you wish to inflict... if, indeed, you don't know or care about anything except how you feel and what you believe, with no interest in expanding your knowledge, then it's completely pointless having any kind of exchange with you.

However, not knowing or caring is generally the only way to justify the state killing its citizens, and thinking it's a good thing when it can't even do it competently.

Reminds me of that old joke..

What's the difference between ignorance and apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Her citizen title was taken away when she decided to murder and torture another INNOCENT citizen.

I hope nothing like this happens to you, your family, friends and close loved ones because I know for a fact if one of yours was tortured and murdered and endeared as much cruelty as this woman gave her victim you would not be saying any of this.

Oh right, so that explains everything, not.🙄

Blackwidowsbite · 07/10/2026 10:40

Yetanotherone12 · 07/10/2026 10:33

No it doesn’t.

but it doesn’t give the state a free pass to torture and kill either.

The state has done this for a long time, she would have known the consequences of her actions before committing this atrocious crime. She chose to do what she did knowing the consequences of it. Thats on her, not the state.

I didn't read this post so I don't know what it says. And I don't care either. I don't know, I don't care and I'm not going to find out, so I know it can't be important.

the “consequences of her crime” are the death penalty.

Not torture, multiple attempts, resuscitation , ventilators, limb amputation, and then once she’s recovered trying again.

that is on the state. If they can't carry out the death penalty in a proper manner, they don’t get to torture someone to death.

PolkaDotPorridge · 07/10/2026 07:06

The ONLY reason CP is suffering is BECAUSE she tortured and murdered “ another woman “ Colleen Slemmer. We CAN say that Colleen did not deserve to die but CP does BECAUSE of what she did. She took that poor girls life and brutally.

No, we can't say that. Or at least we can't say that the state has the result to kill her, because that brings us to below her level. If killing is wrong, it's wrong for anyone to do it.

OK . Since you are struggling I’ll try again. Some posters on here are talking about Gods intervention etc. My opinion is that God doesnt exist and this , to me, is an example of why not. I was asked to explain so I did , making my point with a rhetorical question.

I do hope the penny has dropped now. I am guessing you disagree with my beliefs - fine. But don’t pretend you dont understand my point.

Blackwidowsbite · 07/10/2026 10:34

Would you say the same thing if your close family member or child or spouse was killed the same way as this woman killed her victim? 🧐

Would you still be quoting religious paragraphs.

absolutely this- I remember one of the victims of 7/7 a young woman, her mother was a CofE vicar-
following the death of her daughter and its manner, she did a 180 with her faith and values of charity to all men, and I totally understand why.
Generally us middle classes are insulated form the trendy stuff we vote for- it affects those lower down- only when it affects us do we understand and that's rare.

Didn’t think you would say much about the shoe being on the other foot and you being the victim of this crime.

benandholli · 07/10/2026 10:45

I didn’t know she was raped age 2, that is absolutely horrific and nobody should ever have to go through that, it must have really caused her alot of trauma and I feel for sorry for the little girl she was.
But you can also think she deserved punishment for taking another life.

Fortuity · 07/10/2026 10:46

Blackwidowsbite · 07/10/2026 10:19

I understand that, but still she would have known wrong from right as she grew up, torturing and murdering someone isn’t right. There are a lot of people in the world who have had really shitty childhoods but they don’t all end up murdering and torturing someone.

Would she? She spent her formative years seeing people committing horrific crimes against her as a helpless child and getting away with it. How did that teach her the difference between right and wrong?

Yeah and she managed to survive it twice. ‘So god must be on her side’ 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

@ThereAreOnlyShadesOfGrey Anyone who works as an executioner is no more trustworthy than the people they execute.
That's nonsense.
If they weren't either trustworthy or reliable they wouldn't be in a job very long (In UK.)
William Calcraft: Served for 45 years (1829–1874) and carried out an estimated 450 executions, officiating most famously at Newgate Prison. He managed both the last public hanging and the first private hanging in Britain.
While Calcraft served the longest chronological span, Albert Pierrepoint is the most famous and prolific 20th-century British executioner, serving for 25 years (from 1931/1932 as an assistant until his resignation in 1956) and executing over 400 people.
I can't speak for any other countries.

Why? I don't know why I should and I don't care why I should. It's what I believe, what else matters? What, you're saying this isn't a mature or intelligent approach?

Figures that you're more pissed off about me applying this logic to your posts than about you applying it to killing people.

She's suffered enough.

She’s being treated with compassion- unlike her victim.

She needs to stay in prison forever.

god had nothing to do with it. The state fucked up the execution. That’s on them, not god.

As many do, she’s not the only person in the world who endured this horrific abuse as a toddler/child there are soo many others who have endured this kind of abuse as young as she did but not every single one goes on to being a torturing, murdering scumbag. You cannot justify this horrendous crime because of her childhood, yes her childhood was horrendous I get that but as I’ve said before it’s not a free pass to doing what she did.
