She is absolutely right isn't she? Discussing the triple lock pension challenge and instead focusing on getting people into work. Do you agree with her ? Working 3 or 6 or 9 hours to then top up with benefits isn't the way forward (not including disabilities in here )

Are you doing a schizophrenic joke?

No. I am am wondering who PP is referring to. I am actually confused.

Your friend with schizophrenia. Where does he live? You asked me to find potential jobs to apply for; if you tell me the location I’ll have a search.

You said in previous posts that you could find a job for anyone..

They did indeed

He can't work. He is in hospital every so often.
What employer is going to take him on?
Be releastic.

The paranoid schizophrenic you asked pp to find a job for.

Where is he? Without telling me I can’t see what’s out there.
You have a very defeatist attitude.

No, you seem to blame him for not getting a job. Employers wont take him on.

Just say where. Don’t have to be too specific. You’re now being deliberately evasive because you don’t want me to find anything which undermines your ‘nobody can find a job, everything wants experience’ narrative.

TempestTost · 06/10/2026 21:40

I think fundamentally she is right.

It still leaves questions around things like parents of young kids and people who really cannot work.

But for the bulk of the population what is required is good productive jobs which provide good pay. Not jobs that require corporate welfare.

Partly because those are the jobs that make people stable, and stability goes a long way to having a functional society.

Partly because good jobs for the majority are what allow us to support people like parents of small kids and those who can't work or only work at less productive jobs.

But also because that's what makes people feel like their work is meaningful and useful.

She won’t say. It’s a tactic. Say how impossible finding a job is (or whatever) but then when somebody calls the bluff, refuse to engage ‘on a matter of principle’. lol

I am not being evasive. His own psychiatric team and have said his he not fit for work.
Why do you think you know better?

You asked me to find him a job. I asked where he lives. Now you’re playing the victim and acting like I’m the one interrogating you. Sick of this kind of disingenuous rubbish

If somebody posts any village or town I can pretty much guarantee I will find jobs with no previous experience necessary

If I can’t I will change my username to something of your choice for a week 😂

Full time, guaranteed hours?

Well, I was actually thinking it was a good thing you were trying to start up some sort of service for people who struggle to find work.
It seems you are actually looking down on them.

You were going to reach that conclusion no matter what I said

That wouldn’t work. It’s too long for a mumsnet user name and you aren’t allowed spaces or a question mark,

Sadly, because I recognise usernames and their views on benefits.

Go on then, let's try Morecambe.

Full time, guaranteed hours, in the town. No experience necessary right? At least NMW

London, I’m pretty senior but it’s just so competitive out there. Ive never really known it like this. I’m also a hiring manager, so I’m quite aware of the reasons.

If you're a hiring manager then you surely know how difficult it is to find a suitable person with the right work ethics and some remotely suitable experience?

London here as well, DP trying to fill a bog standard IT role, 1k daily rate, no line management or financial responsibility, hybrid or fully remote. The only people applying are immigrant workers looking for sponsorship visas who are chancing it with no relevant experience.

coronafiona · 06/10/2026 22:06

I would absolutely love nothing more for my adult child but she is disabled and no one will employ her. So I tend to think there is a place to support those who aren’t that fortunate.
