Friend using mothers parking space to make money

Tiggermad · Yesterday 20:39

We live local to a busy airport where parking is expensive.
My mother who is elderly has a parking space outside her home no car. It is 5 minutes from
airport.
One of her friends daughters who I also follow on social media and lives about 10 houses away from
my mother advertises her parking space a a cost weekly to people leaving cars for weeks as opposed to using airport car parks. I see her advertising regularly.
A few weeks ago my mother said her friends daughter had asked to “borrow” my mom’s parking space for a “friend” going on holiday. I have seen her advertising spaces for multiple spaces.
I think she is using my mother’s space to charge others under the guise it’s for a friend. So. effectively she is making £25-30 a week if she rents spaces out.
i feel this is morally wrong if she is making money out of my mothers space. I’ve no
proof though.
I have not raised this with her friends daughters yet as when I asked my mom she became a bit defensive but she is quite vulnerable.
What can I do to ensure she isn’t used for her friends daughters to make money of her drive ??

I hope you’re doing ok @Tiggermad
Just don’t rise to it. If you feel you can’t go NC again, just push this entire question to back of mind. Very very unlikely something sketchy going on. Your mother will very likely be very aware if anything has been arranged and fully on board. It’s just another of her abusive mind tricks. Don’t fall for it. Good luck xx

I don’t even know why you’re bothered about this. Sounds like you have a poor relationship with your mum anyway. Not your circus, not your monkeys.

It will be as a result of decades of insidious abuse of the mother drawing the Op back in

Bigfattwat · Today 06:52

You low contact or NC. Just ignore it. That’s nice mum. Etc.

PolkaDotPorridge · Today 07:14

Ignore my original post . Just rtft. Sounds like you’ve told your mum and she doesn’t believe you. Not much you can do.

Tell her you know what she's doing and to cut your mum in or fuck off. Cheeky bitch.

This post absolutely nails it.

Christ, some people are so bloody cheeky it beggars belief! Don’t keep quiet about this CF, it’s outrageous.

Reply to the advert under a different/random name and get location of parking space confirmed.

I know you are probably right…..

So direct your energy into working out why you are still drawn to drama with your mother and do some work to understand how not to be. Abusive people can be like an addiction, we hate them but miss the drama and interaction as we are trauma bonded. You need to get to a point where you aren’t really thinking about her .

Moonnstarz · Today 07:49

Well once various cars start parking there then she will see that it is unlikely to be just friends. However as others have said if you have a tricky relationship with her it's best to step back and leave it now.

Why doesn’t your mum park her car there?

Doesn't have a car

IzzyGone · Today 07:52

Pose as a customer, get someone unconnected to you to do this for you. Then use the screenshots to confront her

Landlubber2019 · Today 08:00

I am not sure why you are concerned or why you would need to go LC/NC. This really isn't any of your business, I say this as someone who has chosen to set boundaries and go LC/NC.

What money are you giving your mum? Are you offering to pay when going out or paying money to her, if the latter this would need to stop and redirect your mum to her friend who is receiving a regular income from the property.

Yellowchair1 · Today 11:24

Definitely advertise it yourself! Are you sure it is oy £25-30 a week she is making? Where i live people with spaces near stations are making £10-15 a day, & airport spaces are even more lucrative!

I was once approached by a CF neighbour asking if she could "use my drive" for one of her vehicles as it "seemed a shame" that I had no car. I told her I would look into hiring it out and let her know which app I was on if I decided to go ahead. Good conversation stopper.

Nothing wrong with hiring out your drive. Informally it could be a great cash in hand money spinner. I live near a major airport but my privacy is important to me so I don't want randoms on my drive.

You wouldn’t have randoms on your drive, they’d be thousands of miles away.

Why on earth do you get so enmeshed in the life of a mother who is so toxic?

FFS stop giving her money, stop taking her out, stop seeing her!

She has no car. It’s in the OP.

Sunbringer · Today 12:12

Have a car towed. She will soon stop.

Ya think!?

It's like watching rusty cogs slowly grinding on here sometimes.
