£60 for a primark jacket, really?

It's insane and vinted is no longer useful really, aside from jeans

I have listed stuff from Primark though, at a cheap price - I've got some bodycon dresses from the ATMOSPHERE days!

AMarkAMissionABrandAScar · 28/09/2026 17:27

It's from the Colleen Rooney range and sold out straight away so people are making a profit. Same thing happened with a yellow polka dot denim jacket from Tu last spring. Certain items go viral on social media.

IzzyLeng · 28/09/2026 17:27

its a Colleen Rooney collaboration and I imagine has gone viral and sold out in store. Supply and demand. It’s not unusual in such a situation for people to be desperate and pay more than the rrp I guess.

It is for some stuff! I coveted an item a colleague had the other day, they told me what it was and I found it on Vinted for half the current price of what it was online (premium brand so saved £40 or so!)

I’ve seen the same jacket on there though listed for £35, so this seems abit steep!

Colleen Rooneys sold out range, if there’s demand on vinted people will buy it.

It is crazy!
Viral or not, it’s still a primark item so not worth £60. I used to shop at primark when I was younger and sometimes still do so it’s not me being snobby, I just don’t think the quality is as good.

Look, a shein jacket for £22!

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. It's not an essential item, why not if they manage to make a profit.

Nothing wrong with people earning money. They might not manage to sell, I have seen over-priced items listed for a year!

EdinaTheConfessor · 28/09/2026 17:50

I’ve just had a look on the Primark site, it is £15! Although yes is sold out. But I can’t imagine anyone being desperate enough to spend £60 on a £15 Primark jacket. It isn’t even nice!

PippaDee123 · 28/09/2026 17:56

So maybe don’t buy it then?

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 28/09/2026 18:02

I put things on a prices way over what I want for them. People make me low ball offers and I sell them. I get what I think the item was worth in the first place, and they're happy as they think they've got a bargain!

Things sell quicker that way than putting them on for lower prices.

AvengingAngle · 28/09/2026 18:07

Is it a particularly sought-after one? Sometimes high street items 'go viral' and sell out, then command high resale prices - for example, those trainers in Lidl colours a couple of years ago.

It's not my cup of tea and I wouldn't buy it whether it was by Primark or Christian Dior but if an influencer has taken a shine to it and it's all over TikTok, someone will pay £60 for it, I'm sure.

I’m curious what you think of the shein item for £22? Would you buy it ?

Influencers give me rage, so my opinion may be biased 😆

I don't pay any attention to influencers either - I know what I like and what suits me, clothes-wise, I don't care what some social media random thinks we should all be wearing 😃

Beachtastic · 28/09/2026 18:40

Mad!

Not sure why anyone would want to (a) wear that hideous jacket or (b) dress like Colleen Rooney?

AvengingAngle · 28/09/2026 19:02

Just had a look on Primark's website out of curiosity - it was originally £26 then reduced to £15 but it's out of stock in all sizes - so guessing at some point it 'caught on' with the influencer set.

I don't personally like that colour of check but what I really dislike about it is the way it seems to bulge out at the waist and be pulled in with elastic. It has all the cachet of a cheap 1980s anorak and I can't imagine what figure type that would flatter - curvy and you'd look like a cottage loaf; slim and you'd look like a toffee apple on a stick.

I get really annoyed at seeing Primark on Vinted!
I really wish you could filter out brands.
Apart from that I love Vinted, too much probably 🤣

why?

I am happy I can sell my Primark stuff on Vinted.
As long as no one is trying to pass it for some expensive designer item, what's wrong with Primark?

An item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

So just select the brands you do want from the drop down list? Confused

People buy from Primark on Vinted because they know what size they are there. It reduces the risk of buying things that don’t fit.

I never understand this. I search for things by brand e.g. Levi's 501 and then filter by size. Are people really just putting in, for example, red jumper, not filtering and wading through all the £1 tat?

if I only look at red jumper, yes, because I am open to to suggestions until I find one that I like
I found some great things for £1
