AIBU for wanting space after my husband got an unexpected X call?

Husband and I have had very rocky few years. We have sorted everything out. (Both in the wrong at various different points)

we are moving next month and this week was stressful with solicitors and chasing ect…I recently gave up smoking and I’m so proud of myself but I feel like I could easily go and buy a box 😩

lovely evening chilling on the sofa and he gets a call from the app X (twitter) some random foreign name. Automatically told me what he used this app for and said what the hell why is someone calling me. (I looked it up and it’s common) I just got so pissed off because it brought back a lot of trauma. I made him sleep downstairs because I just knew I wouldn’t be able to relax with him next to me. I didn’t really want to talk about it and hear him out as he tried to blame me for getting annoyed about it and i shut it down. I don’t really know what the point of this post is but am I being unreasonable for wanting to be by myself and having space?

There is no happy relationship without trust.

OP, unless there’s more to this, you need to apologise to your DH. It’s not his fault if he gets a spam call. Have you thought of counselling? Clearly, you have unresolved issues.

nocoolnamesleft · Yesterday 11:47

Unless there’s a lot of history/context that you haven’t mentioned, it does seem like an overreaction on your part.

It’s not that I don’t trust him.It just made my body go stiff and gave me that feel sick feeling I had years ago. Added in with a really bad week.

Has he cheated before? Is that the problem?

Moros · Yesterday 12:06

If you wanted space because he got a spam call, why did he have to sleep on the sofa? Or is it less about you wanting space and more about punishing him for an imagined transgression?

Either you trust him or you don't.

Clearly you don't given your ridiculous reaction.

Stop this house purchase immediately unless one of you can afford to buy the other out as your relationship isn't going to last.

Sorry, what is an "X call via Twitter" ?

I thought from the title you were going to say that an ex partner had phoned him, and now you need some space.

Could some one explain what these calls from X are?
I've had a Twitter Acccount for years and years and kept the account when it became X. I hardly look at X tbh but I've never had a phonecall through X and I didn't know it was a thing.

However whatever this mysterious call was OP it's very obvious you don't trust him.

Edited to say I've just googled it and apparently it's done through X direct messaging and people can only phone if there had been an exchange of at least one message prior to the call.

I don’t understand this, and I don’t use Twitter, so I’m not sure what a spam call from Twitter signifies. However, I get regular spam emails on a variety of subjects, a common one being offers for penile implants and also dates with hot Russian women. I’m a heterosexual woman who has never been interested in either of those things, nor searched information about them. Yet they send me emails all the time.

What makes you think a spam call reflects your husband’s interests?

Are you looking for an excuse to buy some cigarettes?

thecatinblack · Yesterday 12:39

All your excuses are irrelevant. You sound awful to live with.

PollyBell · Yesterday 12:41

You sound like hard work if my husband carried on like this i would tell him i am going out till he grows up

Holsareovertooquickly22929eee · Yesterday 13:35

I think I’m lost, as to how a spam call means you need space? I presume there is a back story to this?
Also who knew you could ring people on X? Every day is a school day

AintNoPunshineWhenShesGone · Yesterday 13:40

You ‘made’ him sleep downstairs in his own home, did you?

More fool him for allowing you to treat him like that.

Ohnobackagain · Yesterday 14:13

If it was a spam call that’s one thing but how do you even get a call from X? I can see how to message but not call @Chromeheartsx

Has your husband had an affair in the past? If not you almost sound abusive.

Yes an emotional one. It was for 6 months with a best friend that I fell out with prior. She did it out of spite and he was told stuff I had done behind his back. We are both over it had years apart and came back together. This was a long long time ago. But the call from an unknown women on an app in the moment just gave me that feeling of yuck.

It came through as a video call. He told me the accounts been suspended and he’s wiped the app off his phone (I didn’t ask him to do this) as he didn’t know that could happen. My female friend told me this app is used for porn due to the normal sites wanting proof of age now. So I just assumed it was phishing scam if he’s clicked on a video on there. Not bothered about the porn. Bothered if he’s psychically chatting to a person though.

For everyone calling me unhinged. I’m not unhinged. He wiped the app for a reason..

Christ I Get lots of these, if my husband told me I had to sleep downstairs due to it, I’m sure everyone would say he was abusive and I should leave him.

Given that he wiped his phone afterwards maybe you know there is more to this?
Or, it could just be nicotine withdrawal. I'm an ex-smoker and I know the impact quiting can have. I was on edge constantly.
Why did he wipe it?

I have managed to find his account and I can see who is following and who he is following. I was right to let him sleep on the sofa. Now I got to figure out how to let a whole house chain fall through.

Yes you’re right I don’t trust him. I thought I did until I have just managed to see his followers on X

Nip out and get a box of fags OP
its clearly not going to work, the smoking or the relationship

GeorgeMichaelsCat · Yesterday 15:33

He connected to a bot who called him. Simple as that. Probably a man thousands of miles away pretending to be young, hot woman.
