It's not regional, the correct term is packed lunch, not pack lunch. Pack up is regional, as is jackbit or snap.

Exactly!

People who say pack lunch have just misheard it. The correct term is packed.

I think regional variations such as pack up /snap are fine and indeed interesting, but pack lunch irritates me in the same way as someone who has a frog in their throat and won’t clear it and continues talking in a squeaky way.

I should probably work on mastering these irritations, but for the moment, they exist!

No we haven't missed heard it 🤣like I said earlier my grandparents born in the 1910s said pack lunch. It's not midd heard, it's not new, it's how many people have said it for at least the last 110 years in certain areas. But no according to you we all just miss heard it 🙄😏

@Poppinpoppinpopcorn
The number of grammatical errors in your posts
… grandparents “where” born/“missed heard”doesn’t really lend weight to your argument!!

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 27/09/2026 13:22

It’s snap in our working class bit of the world

Oh I'm so sorry my medical condition upsets you so much. Maybe use your brain before you comment.

@tiredtiredd some people call it "snap".
Do you need a lie down if you ever hear that?

Snap! You must be a midlander like me!

I am a South Midlander so my area didn't say "snap" but I've read a lot of books where it's used.
My home town is on a county border and there were some things that had different names despite only being 5 miles apart.
I used to work in a bakery that sold lardy cake. Those from over the border would ask for a piece of "slab".
I love UK language differences 🙂

It doesn’t upset me

I’m just saying that your lack of grammar is the reason you’ve confused pack and packed.

My grammar dosent mean I confused pack and packed. It didn't affect my memory 😏Like I already said twice my grandparents born in the 1910s used pack as did everyone else in our region. So it's been used for at least 110 years. We didn't all miss hear it now did we? 🤣

Poppinpoppinpopcorn · 27/09/2026 14:26

Oh and the medical problem which causes my grammar mistakes does not affect my intelligence. Just putting that out there so you know better next time.
