so father parks on road which is signed as Private road
he gets a fine of £100

the road is private property and not an adopted road - so not maintained by the council - but by the reisdents

he is shocked that parking on private property would lead to a £100 fine - also this is signed at the end of the road

and is going to take this to court

AIBU to think he deserves the fine for ignoring the private road Sogn and then ignoring the parking fine sign

the publicity will also mean that others don't park there and the residents are getting exactly what they wanted

I live about 200m from a large primary school. Our council parking enforcement team was out the other morning and I saw them fine several cars. One of them was a woman whose car was actually parked outside her own house - but she lives right opposite the school and the road at that point has yellow zigzags and a sign stating not to park there. Others had arrived to drop their child off and had parked inconsiderately. It happens every morning.

We’ve had our drive obstructed by people who are “only going to be 10 mins” so frequently that a few months ago we paid to have a white line painted over our drive (think it’s called an H bar). Even with the white line though I still get a nitwit in a white BMW who obstructs my drive nearly every day because the white line and rules regarding parking over a dropped kerb apparently don’t apply to him. I’ve left a genuinely polite note and I’ve messaged the school. He still does it. I would be delighted for him to be fined.

I would take a picture/video and send it to the police to follow up

Why can't children walk or cycle to school? Are parents afraid their legs will fall off? I don't remember anyone being driven to school when I was younger, it would have been seen as seriously uncool and embarrassing.

They can walk, but sometimes there isn’t time to walk, get back home and then get to wherever else the parent needs to be that day.

this has been covered earlier in the thread

Why is that disingenuous? It clearly says he left the car there for a short amount of time while dropping the kids at school.

Because he parked .... what he was doing after that is neither here nor there. Whatever the reason he ignored the clearly posted signage.
