How much to give 15 year old going to London on a school trip

My son is going to London for 2 nights and 3 days.

All food, hotel, travel etc is covered including these activities Hamilton musical natural history museum science museum London eye Hyde Park and shopping at Oxford/regent street.

How much money would you give for spends considering they are also going to oxford/regent Street? Hes asked for £200 and I personally think that's a bit overkill!

I think he'd be lucky to get half that. Has he explained what he'd be spending it on?

I'd be sending £50.

I was going to say £50. It would have been less if it wasn't London. Enough to buy himself a can of coke, bottle of water or a snack or something, and a souvenir to remind himself of the trip (though I'd be annoyed if he spent that on a tacky model of the London Eye or something.

Agree with this. Is there anything in particular that he wants to buy, that you can afford, and want him to have? If not, then give him what you would normally give him if he was going to town with his mates.

50 if lunch is covered as well as the other meals. And assuming tube costs etc are covered.

Also Oxford Street is rubbish these days, loads of those American candy rip off shops, I can't believe they're taking them there.

Mine had their own money when they did a London school trip, access to about £800 and spent £130 on the trip. He bought some Lego, merch from the musical and the rest was just drinks/snack/

There is no need for them to spend anything, but if they did then they could spend their own money. That's what pocket money is for.

I took ds to London recently for a few days to check out the Bayeux Tapestry and trinkets / souvenirs, snacks and other bits and bobs added up quickly.

Yes I think 125-150 will be enough then. Enough for drinks and snacks and something little from the museums. He will probably come home and have spent nothing thats usually what happens 😂

I’d send £100.

Yeah hes saved £40 from.his pocket money this month so thats to go towards. He needs some money for drinks while out, but lunch is included.

If they’re going to Regent Street I assume it’s Hamleys. I’d give £150 max in total.

Maybe I'm tight but I would be on the £50 end of things.
£10 a day drinks and snacks
£10 for the programme and an ice cream at the theatre
£10 for a souvenir

it’s £15 for a programme and I think £4.50 for ice cream when we went…

I live in London with my young adult kids and would think £30-50 a day is enough for snacks etc. I don’t think it’s a time for ‘proper’ clothes shopping etc and would make that clear. These days there is little unique about Oxford St and I would not be encouraging the designer shops of Regent st either.

Does he have a debit card? I'd be inclined to put £100 and if he was stuck add a little more.

Yes he has a go Henry card so can see what he's spending etc. I might do that.

We paid over £30 for two not very nice Proseccos and a small tub of crisps! And couldn’t hear half the lyrics. Had to watch again at home with subtitles.

Can't see them taking them in there, I should.of explained its a trip for a SEN school so staff will be with them at all times. I hope anyway. 😂
