Like him but struggling with this physical feature that apparently all men have of a certain age?

Met someone lovely. I do fancy him. But, he has a small bum. He very much needs a belt. It’s basically flat. He’s late 40s and lost a lot of weight in last few years (previously overweight now a healthy weight) which I think has emphasised this even more.

Girlfriends are saying this is normal with age (he’s around 8 years older than me) and happens with all men. Does it?! I’ve never noticed it before. I don’t want this to be an issue as I really do like him. We’ve not DTD yet

Anyone else noticed that men’s lips get thinner as they age,

You started a one sided argument for no reason and you needlessly leapt in with personal insults, yet you have the audacity to call me a bitch? That’s hilarious.

I haven’t been rude to you. I’ve politely rebuffed your nonsense, nasty comments. If you’re in a tizzy I’m afraid it’s entirely self inflicted. Maybe a lesson may be learned here how you can be nicer to people.

My ex had one flatter than a pancake, it was not attractive.

I have a flat bottom, my mum does and my gran does. I'd love a round bottom but it just flattens over time. My mum is very athletic for her age and it's still happened. Luckily I've found a man with an equally flat bottom and we laugh about it (and our matching double chins!)

It’s muscle loss. All the men I’ve dated with muscles have a shapely bum. Men who don’t work out have a flat bum.

My glutes are really solid, I exercise 5-6xp/wk, but I have the flattest arse known to humankind, and always have. Sometimes it’s just genetics

Do you do squats? In my experince that's all that helps bums

user1492757084 · 28/09/2026 02:58

I have never noticed this on men, my husband was always self conscious about having a small bum but I never particularly fancied the idea of a man with a huge big bottom so I never got what the issue was 😂

hope you can get over it. ageing definitely changes people’s body shape

i always wonder how come that older men seen to have big bodies with tiny legs and younger men have shorter bodies with longer legs. I do not understand how this can happen and I am fairly intelligent.. but rare to see an older guy with long legs. Some men look like they are 70% upper body once over 50, especially if overweight …

It's not just men! I'd like to know, too. I've lost 3cm in height and all the medical info says this occurs in the spine. Yet my inside leg's changed from 31" to 29". That does rather suggest the height's gone form my legs, doesn't it? But, no, "Your legs are fine, it's compression between the vertebrae." I KNOW MY INSIDE LEG! "No, legs don't shorten with age." Argh.

~ Sorry, OP, nothing to do with your pancake-bum boyfriend 😳

Hi there.

Can we please keep the thread on topic and avoid it turning into an argument? It does tend to derail the discussion and make it less enjoyable for everyone who is trying to take part.

Thanks.

MNHQ.

VielleTruite · 28/09/2026 15:34

It wouldn't bother me in the least if his personal qualities were spot-on. Surely it's better than having a massive, sweaty fat one with acres of unpleasant crackage showing every time he bent over?

Weeellokthen · 28/09/2026 17:20

My dp is 65 and still has a lovely rounded bum. He doesn't work out. I think it's just in his jeans 😂

so glad it’s not just me. I have never had even a hint of an arse, despite doing a lot of glute exercise. Genetically just no junk in this trunk.
