YANBU. Everyone knows how cold Charles was towards Diana IRL. In her own words.

Boomer55 · Today 09:30

The royals have always been ruthless with ‘non blood’ female members of the family. They’re just used to breed, and make the blood royals look good.

He’s probably telling the truth, but I was a long time ago. Best let her rest in peace now.

Namenamchange · Today 09:33

Yeah I can believe he said it, the royal family have worked tirelessly to hide wrong doings.

People don’t stay the same, people grow and change maybe if he said it he regrets it’s now who knows.
However, the Spencer’s are no Saints and you have to question why he is releasing a new book now… and will anyone care enough to ready it.

Eventually the royal family will become less and less relevant and will be a wane to nothingness

Valeryvictorious · Today 09:34

Yes I believe him.

sesquipedalian · Today 09:35

IF this is true, why has it only come out now? If the Earl of Spencer had said something at the time, the papers would have been all over it, and it would have been very damaging to the royal family, who were at a low ebb at the time. I’m sorry, but I think this is a convenient and sensationalist remembering to sell a few books. Let’s not forget, this is a man who wasn’t even invited to his own daughters’ weddings.

HexInductionHour · Today 09:41

He has got beautiful teeth

AllHoityToity · Today 09:42

Why have you got two threads on exactly the same topic?

I don’t think that the word of anyone who just happens to be selling a tell all book can be trusted that much. And he seems to be a deeply unpopular man within his own circles.

I really feel like the Royal Family are less and less liked generally but I don’t think that I do believe him.

emuloc · Today 09:44

Even if it is true that KC said that, Charles Spencer should have done the decent thing, and kept his counsel. It is really not on, what he has done here. Has he forgotten he has nephews?

AmberSpy · Today 09:46

Utterly classless to be dragging this out 30 years after the event so that he can sell more copies of his book. If true then it's awful but why bring it up now?

Clearinguptheclutter · Today 09:46

He certainly sounds believable but as pp said why come out with this now all these years later? Other than to sell books

awful for the sons to have to deal with whaever the truth is

AnneLovesGilbert · Today 09:48

He said he’d protect the Princes. This is the opposite.

ItsAlwaysTwins · Today 09:48

I believe every word. I don’t care what his motives for writing the book are. Anything that damages the monarchy can only be a good thing.

LuckyHazelFox · Today 09:49

Another witch hunt thread.

Comtesse · Today 09:49

Who cares if it’s true or not? Pretty much every participant in this psycho drama is awful.

GCAcademic · Today 09:49

The man has many expensive divorces to pay for, hence the book, and is not known for his integrity. So I would take anything he says with a large dose of salt.

AllHoityToity · Today 09:49

It’s a disgrace really. Using your dead sister to pay for your divorces. I’m sure his nephews and their children will be thrilled he’s dragging all of this up three decades later. I can’t imagine what it’s like when your mother dies in terrible circumstances and people are still bringing it up all of the time. And using their relationships with her for financial gain. It’s deplorable.

Reddog1 · Today 09:56

I dislike monarchy and aristocracy as a concept and find all of these people pretty unappealing. But I’m on the fence about the veracity of this claim. I can’t help thinking that it would have leaked in 29 years and been all over message boards, and gossiped about by journalists who couldn’t print it for whatever reason.

BIWI · Today 09:57

Please could you move this to the Royal Family board?

I'm getting sick of wading through threads about what a grumpy middle-aged man said about his ex wife 30 years ago. He's a king, not a PM. We can't vote him out.

BIWI · Today 09:58

@BakeOut Why didn't you post this in the Royal Family topic?

dustabsorber · Today 10:00

orf with his head

EnterFunnyNameHere · Today 10:07

I can 100% believe KC thought that, and maybe 50% believe that he said that (i mean, you'd have to be a fucking idiot to say that to her brother but I don't credit any of them with much intelligence). What i don't understand is why anyone really cares about some trashy gossip from 30 years ago being shared in an unbelievably transparent attempt to drum up interest in a book.

Most posters there love Charles so you wouldn’t get as much of a balanced view. It’s best here.

Sereine · Today 10:11

YABVU to start yet another thread about this.

SoftBlanketAndADog · Today 10:12

We will probably never know for definite but I think it’s completely believable that Charles said these things.
