To name a baby a name that gives her the initials bj?

there would be a middle name but still. I worry about peers mocking too

Not in a million years would I do this.

TallSturdyGirls · Yesterday 22:35

Just don't

MargotLovesTom · Yesterday 22:36

No.

RikthePoet · Yesterday 22:36

Didn't do Boris Johnson any harm.

People thought he was a massive prick, but that's because he was a massive prick, not because of his initials.

Thecomedyclub · Yesterday 22:36

Nope, 25 other letters to choose from. Make the B the middle name?

Marcipex · Yesterday 22:37

No don’t. Guess how I know

11AndCounting · Yesterday 22:38

You're overthinking.

There are many people in the public eye with those initials. If anyone even makes the connection, it will be fleeting.

WearyAuldWumman · Yesterday 22:38

I'm a retired secondary school teacher.

Don't do it.

Yes, I once taught a B.J. That's what she answered to all through secondary school.

ETA The 'J' wasn't her surname.

SoftandQuiet · Yesterday 22:38

😂

TestingTestingWonTooFree · Yesterday 22:40

It’s a no from me.

Beamur · Yesterday 22:40

I voted YANBU as meaning you wouldn't be unreasonable to think this was a ridiculous idea. Don't do it.

DoAWheelie · Yesterday 22:40

I have a cousin with this name combo and the jokes were endless. She hated her entire school days as a result.

That's not a great example. His name is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson. There are many reports that among his family and friends he's known as Alexander and that Boris is more of a stage name.

He's actually Alexander though

Our surname begins with J and we liked a first name that began with B but we didn’t think it was a good idea

Findingthissohard · Yesterday 22:53

Both my kids are at secondary and they have numerous T-shirts and hoodies with their initials on so I would never do this.
I got teased for my initials all the way through school and so this was a levy check for me on naming my kids

Don’t do it…someone will definitely start it and then it could become a joke at her expense

mondaytosunday · Yesterday 23:06

BJ and the Bear - ran for four seasons and I don’t think it occurred to anyone other than boys of 12 about the initials.

Hohofortherobbers · Yesterday 23:19

BJ is literally a family members nickname and this has only just occurred to me. Known to family as BJ, nobody has raised an eyebrow to this.

Pieceofpurplesky · Yesterday 23:22

As a PP mentioned - if they ever had a school hoodie (sport/trip) they would have BJ on it.
As a side note, imagine Boris Johnson as an AJ!

BigWig78 · Yesterday 23:23

No!
Could you add in a name- Besty Louise Jane Smith? Rather than Betsy Jane?

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · Yesterday 23:26

I wouldn't.

My headmistress in comprehensive school was BJ Williams. She signed all the school letters like that. Just why? She was known by every single kid in that school as "BJ". Could have been Brenda Williams, could have been B Williams, but no, she decided to hand 400 teenagers a loaded gun and go with BJ

IDontHateRainbows · Yesterday 23:31

I remember Becky Jennings from school. Poor Becky didn't understand the significance of her initials and introduced herself to everyone as BJ.
