To have something sweet/ pudding every day after dinner?
kind of thought the majority did this but after talking to friends maybe not. So for example after dinner every night will have something sweet eg bar of chocolate, biscuits

I can quickly get into bad habits if I do. I tend to crave something sweet after dinner but try and hold off for half an hour and it usually goes away. If not I have some full fat Greek yogurt with a little bit of honey or 2-3 dates but not every night. There was a time I could eat 3-4 snickers bars after dinner but obviously needed to stop that! I’m not overweight but was gaining it when not controlling what I was eating. It was a comfort eating thing more than anything.

FusionChefGeoff · 10/09/2026 20:04

We all tend to have something after but quite a bit later not as dessert just as something to snack.

Depends how hungry I am could be Greek yoghurt with fruit, granola, 2 biscuits, Orange clubs are going down well at the moment, 85% dark chocolate mostly

EmeraldShamrock000 · 10/09/2026 20:06

Not directly after dinner. I have something sweet every day.

Sugar is inflammatory - not eating it isn’t a cast iron guarantee that you won’t get ill but it’s a start . Honestly just admit you’re an addict if you’re highlight of the day is a bowl of something that is going to make you unwell. Once or twice a week perhaps but every night .. with children then learning this is the norm? No.

Reading this one would think you were talking about crack or something 😂

Ilovemsrachel · 10/09/2026 20:15

We’ve had fresh strawberries after almost every dinner this summer, as they’ve been so good. With Greek yoghurt and honey - though I often just have the fruit.

I might occasionally have a bit of chocolate, but we don’t tend to keep it in the house.

Dessert only after Sunday roast or if entertaining.

QuizzlyBears · 10/09/2026 20:17

Only if I’m out for dinner or at my parent’s house.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePleaseBarista · 10/09/2026 20:17

I like something sweet but not every day and preferably with coffee in the daytime and usually about 2 or 3 times a week. I need to be very mindful of what I eat as gain weight easily.

Timeforachange26 · 10/09/2026 20:17

Very rarely but I don't have a sweet tooth

shellyleppard · 10/09/2026 20:18

Majority of the time pudding is yoghurt and fruit. Occasionally i make a crumble with Sunday dinner 😁

XigDoop · 10/09/2026 20:19

A chunk of Aldi choc with a cup of tea is nice.

Mince pies this week.

Mince pies? Fuck sake, its nowhere near Christmas!! Maniac! Where did you buy them? 🤫. 🤣

Error404FucksNotFound · 10/09/2026 20:20

We don't. My sister and her family dont. My mum eats sweet stuff instead of food rather than after. A friend of mine does. I dont know about anyone else in my life because theyve never said.

luckylavender · 10/09/2026 20:20

Very very occasionally.

Dearg · 10/09/2026 20:20

Very rarely. Might have an Affogato if out for dinner, but only at Christmas when at home. Not really got a sweet tooth.

OrdinaryMoment · 10/09/2026 20:20

No, no in our house. The exception is if we have guests coming for a meal (very rare) then I do have a desert to offer but not routinely.

LindorDoubleChoc · 10/09/2026 20:20

I don't but I have absolutely no idea what other people do.

Don't feel.like I have had a 'proper' meal without a pud to follow the savoury...though usually have to make it myself as rest of family not really bothered. Rhubarb or apple crumble in season or Bakewell tart.

MissAmbrosia · 10/09/2026 20:22

No, not as a matter of course. If eating out, I might have a pudding, or on holiday an ice cream, but never had, nor offered dd when she was younger, at home.

JustSawJohnny · 10/09/2026 20:23

Always have something sweet after lunch & dinner but I don't go mad - fruit, yoghurt or a couple of dates at lunch, a small 50 calorie lolly or a square of dark chocolate after dinner.

I just have to have something sweet - it doesn't have to be much.

Lizzieregina · 10/09/2026 20:23

Always! Nothing extravagant, but we always have a little something about an hour after dinner. No other snacking though.

Every supermarket has been selling the since the start of the month. Every year my DD buys and eats them by November she can't look one in the face

WattThreeWords · 10/09/2026 20:24

Yep, every day. I eat a very balanced diet, plenty of exercise. Fruit, veg, protein. But this is MN and everyone is too full after their massive salads.

StolenCookie · 10/09/2026 19:06

Lord. Are the posters here really representative of the average person? It’s an extremely unusual day for me if I don’t have something sweet. Quite often twice a day.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who don’t struggle to control their weight so they can enjoy having a pudding every day. Lucky them. But for those of us who do struggle, it’s not really an option.

Yuja · 10/09/2026 20:26

We have fruit. Unless we are having people over at the weekend or going to family then there might be a proper desert but on standard days just a bit of fruit

Ansjovis · 10/09/2026 20:27

I never eat after dinner. I find I sleep so much better since I made that change.
