To have something sweet/ pudding every day after dinner?
kind of thought the majority did this but after talking to friends maybe not. So for example after dinner every night will have something sweet eg bar of chocolate, biscuits

A coffee with sweetener or sugar is enough. I’m dieting so currently it’s a Dr Pepper Zero

PistachioTiramisu · 10/09/2026 19:42

We have pudding every day but don't each much during the day - so a strawberry tart, a vanilla slice, trifle, rice pudding, apple crumble, etc. I hate chocolate.

Unexpectedlhereagain · 10/09/2026 19:43

I very rarely have any dessert of any sort.

Ralstan · 10/09/2026 19:44

No unless eating out.

emptythebin · 10/09/2026 19:45

MNs is not the audience for this!

NotAtMyAge · 10/09/2026 19:45

We usually have some fresh fruit or natural yoghurt. In hot weather ice-cream goes down well.

Overthemoun · 10/09/2026 19:45

I think this is like washing bedsheets and how much people have in savings, mn is weird.

we usually have something - chocolate and/or wine. Probably shouldn’t but…

NeverDropYourMooncup · 10/09/2026 19:45

I'd rather have more dinner chips.

DP likes sweet stuff and has taken to presenting a bowl of fruit and yoghurt most evenings, but I'm not fussed and he's exercising a displacement activity for opening a packet of Haribo in any case.

I think that whilst for some, it's always been normal in their families, for others it's due to children starting school and learning to expect a pudding all the time because it's what they have there.

PrettyLittleRose · 10/09/2026 19:50

@NeverDropYourMooncup I'm the opposite, I would rather have less main and a nice dessert! I mean an actual sweet pudding, not an apple or 5 grapes like some on here. 😆

strugglinguphill · 10/09/2026 19:52

Never.

Lovernotafighter83 · 10/09/2026 19:52

No, never - but each to their own.

Escapetothecatshome · 10/09/2026 19:53

No, I used to love a dessert especially if I was watching the bake off but I just can’t handle sugar anymore it gives me terrible headaches. So sweet puddings are now reserved for Christmas and possibly birthdays but then I usually save it for the following day after lunch.

Avie29 · 10/09/2026 19:55

I think it depends on the dinner, if i have had something quite salty -like fry up -i will crave something sweet but generally no its not a routine here.

Gengha · 10/09/2026 19:56

My husband usually does, I generally do not

Bzr · 10/09/2026 19:56

Never. I don’t have a sweet tooth. I can’t recall the last biscuit sweet or chocolate I ate

TheTortiePuffinNeedsHerBreakfast · 10/09/2026 19:57

I used to enjoy doing this but since reaching my 50s I've had to stop to keep my weight under control

Pumpup · 10/09/2026 19:57

No we just do dinner and that’s it

Northernlights19 · 10/09/2026 19:58

KindlySurfiingPlatypus · 10/09/2026 19:28

Yes but I try to keep it really snall if it's just going to be a sugary treat - I love the tiny bite-sized icecream morsels - or if I'm actually still a bit hungry and it's been at least half an hour since dinner I'll have something a bit more satisfying like some dried apricots and a few nuts with a square of chocolate.

Cos it's MN I can't tell if this poster is serious or joking!

purplecorkheart · 10/09/2026 19:58

Not normally although I did have a small bar of chocolate this evening.

twocornichons · 10/09/2026 19:58

Sugar is inflammatory - not eating it isn’t a cast iron guarantee that you won’t get ill but it’s a start . Honestly just admit you’re an addict if you’re highlight of the day is a bowl of something that is going to make you unwell. Once or twice a week perhaps but every night .. with children then learning this is the norm? No.

Paddyshanks · 10/09/2026 19:59

OP try and remember this is mumsnet where, for some people, eating more than a salad is seen as gluttony and heaven forbid you drink more than a thimble full of sherry at Xmas!

What you said sounds perfectly normal to me!

Happyjoe · 10/09/2026 19:59

Didn't have it growing up, only treats was a Sunday packet of choc digestives shared between 6!

But now I really hanker after something sweet to take the taste of dinner away. Not too keen on my own cooking, ha. If a small dinner, I may have a banana, or chocolate or one of those kids ice pop things.

Iocanepowder · 10/09/2026 19:59

Never at home. Not for my weight and also don’t want to give the kids sugar before bed.

Bunny44 · 10/09/2026 19:59

My family, close friends and partner usually have something like fruit or yogurt, sometimes something like homemade crumble. They're all very health conscious and fit people who do a lot of exercise so maybe just get more hungry!

Hutinthemiddleofnowhere · 10/09/2026 20:02

Generally no but DC think it's an expected normality lol 😆
