To have something sweet/ pudding every day after dinner?
kind of thought the majority did this but after talking to friends maybe not. So for example after dinner every night will have something sweet eg bar of chocolate, biscuits

I absolutely do. I look forward to it all day!

SpottyAlpaca · 10/09/2026 18:51

Not every day, no. If I did, I would be the size of a small hippo. So puddings, desserts, whatever you want to call them are a weekend treat. As is alcohol. And chocolate. And cakes. Because having been clinically obese for many years & now being a healthy weight, I’m staying there.

ODFOx · 10/09/2026 18:52

I’m late 50s. I only had pudding at school or on Sunday growing up. My children were the same. Snacks were available but none of us have a sweet tooth, so crisps or sev were preferred. Don’t get me started on tzatziki or houmous and veggies. And the eggs: all the friends for eggs on toast. The teenage years were a blur of buying eggs and never being able to eat one myself!

bababamama · 10/09/2026 18:53

No, not even when the kids were small. Treats were occasional

Stompythedinosaur · 10/09/2026 18:53

Only after Sunday dinner here!

inthekitchensink · 10/09/2026 18:56

Nope, never here, but we eat at 7ish

Octomingo · 10/09/2026 18:57

I grew up with pudding. Penguin/kitkat after lunch. Biscuits or cake or semolina etc after tea.

We don't have tea until about 7or 8, but still have a few biscuits or something sweet after it. Don't really snack though.

outerspacepotato · 10/09/2026 18:59

No. Cut up fruit or a banana or apple in the daytime as a snack. I've kind of lost my sweet tooth.

walrushurricane · 10/09/2026 19:01

I sometimes do but mostly prefer something sweet in the afternoon. Perhaps people who never have dessert have sweet food at other times.

@QuickPearlFox YABU. It’s a bad habit your parents got you into. I was the same growing up but I rarely have anything sweet after a meal because it’s incredibly bad thing to do.

Why?

Allmarbleslost · 10/09/2026 19:03

No. I start piling weight on if I do.

JeanSimmons · 10/09/2026 19:04

I don't normally enjoy sweet food after savoury, unless I'm eating out. I love cakes and puddings, but I tend to eat them separately from a main meal. I do love a Tunnocks teacake or KitKat after dinner, though.

Pedant61 · 10/09/2026 19:04

No - probably not even once a week.
But we do eat quite a lot of cheese!

InterIgnis · 10/09/2026 19:05

No, this has never been my normal.

StolenCookie · 10/09/2026 19:06

Lord. Are the posters here really representative of the average person? It’s an extremely unusual day for me if I don’t have something sweet. Quite often twice a day.

stargirl1701 · 10/09/2026 19:06

No. Not for decades now. Maybe in the 70s when I was born.

SlugJam · 10/09/2026 19:06

I don’t, but no idea what the majority do.

TonTonMacoute · 10/09/2026 19:07

Never, unless we are entertaining.

HRHCurmudgeon · 10/09/2026 19:07

Nope. Don’t have things like biscuits, cake or ice cream in the house - just don’t think to buy them, not on my radar at all.

SlugJam · 10/09/2026 19:08

That’s not to say I never eat anything sweet, it’s just not after dinner! I tend to eat enough for dinner that I don’t want anything afterwards. If I have something sweet it’s usually mid afternoon.

ohtowinthelottery · 10/09/2026 19:10

Not in this house. In fact it's a bit of a family joke that adult DS always asks "What's for pudding" when he visits. He knows the answer is "nothing". Same as it was when he lived here.
Having been away with a number of different friends over the last few months, where we've been self catering and each provided for ourselves, we've been astounded at the amount of snacking that goes on after meals have been eaten - both sweet and savoury(large bags of crisps). We very rarely snack but if we do it will be fruit or cheese.

Not me or anyone I know

😄 you've asked everyone you know have you?

Picklechamp · 10/09/2026 19:11

The amount of space given to yoghurts/puddings/ice cream/cakes/choc in a supermarket gives you a good indication of how popular they are. Someone is eating them!

I agree. I have always had something sweet every day and I am pretty sure most people do.

Noodge · 10/09/2026 19:12

Very rarely. If I am ill or feeling under the weather I occasionally have a square of chocolate. I live alone though, if that's relevant.
