OMG Miriam Margolyes Andi Peters

I've got an annual leave day today and am spending the morning shamelessly on the sofa watching daytime TV with cups of tea and biscuits after an exhausting school summer hols. Kids back at school today. I've given myself permission to vegetate till 3:15pm.
So here I am watching This Morning and have just spent 5 minutes with my jaw wide open and hand over my mouth at what Miriam Margolyes just said to Andi Peters.
Did anyone else see it??
I mean it takes a lot to shock me. I am not easily shocked.
And this woman is currently doing a sell out tour??
Whoah.

I didn’t know she was gay actually and I was pretty sure I’d read that AP was openly gay. Apologies if I got that wrong. Certainly didn’t want any speculation if he hasn’t said anything himself. It was more a light hearted comment in reference to the thread title with no context other than two names

You didn't know she was gay are you sure ? She has never ever hidden the fact.

I think it's quite o.k. to ask people if they are mixed race, I myself have one and many women and friends I know do too

What do you have one of?

Brain cell?

How would they go about warning her directly on a live tv broadcast? March on the set and talk to her? It’s for the presenters to deal with what arises.

The presenter, in this case Andi Peters have to steer the conversation away from potentially damaging remarks. In the case of Margoyles, the producers know she is an attention seeking loose lipped liability, I don't think she should have been on the Morning show in the first place.

I remember once on QVC. The huest was Joan Rivers, another one who liked to shock. She went too far (for that kind of programme) they immediately cut to a break, and when they resumed....she was gone.

I just don’t get why people like her. Anyone can say outrageous things and force out flatulence for attention. I like women who are strong and don’t give a damn. But she’s just a massive attention seeker. Many comments could be made about her appearance but most people have the grace not to go there.

It’s just so unnecessary to draw attention to Andi’s race. He's just a man. It’s actually quite othering. Her preoccupation with race is bizarre.

Edited

A lot of people in entertainment, particularly actors, seem to be attention seekers. Probably down to deep insecurity. I have no patience with this kind of behaviour. It's all me, me, me and they get the arse if no one toadies to them.

I like Miriam - I think she's very talented and obviously completely eccentric. Generally I do like outspoken people, as long as it's done with respect and warmth.

This interview was awful and surely she knew her comments/questions were totally out of order.

It sadly showed a huge level of racism, very disappointing. Andi handled it with such class.

I said it was for the presenter to deal with?

The last actual acting stuff she's done is Call the Midwife but basically she exists to be the BBC and channel 4s favourite twinkly foul mouthed great aunt substitute on jaunts disguised as documentaries about wine making or Australia. Has she really got 4 houses?!?

Yes it is odd that only TV guide seems to have picked up on it. As I mentioned normally this would ignite on Twitter but I don't have access to that now that nitter is gone. Has anyone referred to it in Bluesky? If it had been say John Cleese making the same comments the commentariat would have exploded

Tbf your description of her rules you out as a person taking the high ground. Your description of her is far worse than how she spoke to andI P. What’s your excuse for cruel personal remarks?

I need no excuse, as I was not after the high ground at all.

I wasn't disagreeing, just adding my 2 cents.😉

The mainstream media has started giving this some attention in the last few hours, with articles on the Metro and Yahoo News.

That's good, it was tumbleweed earlier on.

Just checked Reddit and there's been nowt.

Maybe they were checking things out and being ultra careful, presumably. What with her being the right kind of national treasure

InterestedDad37 · Today 12:20

She's an ignorant trout. Reminds me of an auntie of my ex - dead posh, well-educated, but ignorant as fck. There are a lot of skin colours and mixed race people in the extended family.
If there was a black kid present (weddings, funerals etc) she'd rub their hair and ask "where are you from?". They'd reply with where they lived - so she'd ask "but what is your ancestry?". She had to be 'managed', and kept away from certain people.
She's in her 90s now, and upsetting everyone in her nursing home.

Your comment is worse than racism. It isn’t commonly held ignorance, it’s targeted attack intended to demean.

Holidaymodeon · Today 12:38

Anyone has TT, here she is this week , in my eyes she is purposely trying to make the interpreter feel awkward , I think she gets off on making people feel uncomfortable and none of it is accidental vm.tiktok.com/ZGdQdW2yc/

I’d say it’s pretty ignited on twitter / X. Last time I saw, Andi Peters was trending and Miriam margolyes popped up in several posts as I was scrolling
