OMG Miriam Margolyes Andi Peters

I've got an annual leave day today and am spending the morning shamelessly on the sofa watching daytime TV with cups of tea and biscuits after an exhausting school summer hols. Kids back at school today. I've given myself permission to vegetate till 3:15pm.
So here I am watching This Morning and have just spent 5 minutes with my jaw wide open and hand over my mouth at what Miriam Margolyes just said to Andi Peters.
Did anyone else see it??
I mean it takes a lot to shock me. I am not easily shocked.
And this woman is currently doing a sell out tour??

She goes out of her way to be shocking. I was going to mention when she was on Graham Norton and told a story of walking home and wanking off a man she randomly came across and then another voice in some bushes saying will you do me too - and she did. I mean who does that? Wanks off two random strangers walking home.

Anyway on that TV guide link above at the bottom is a link to her on Graham Norton - so I clicked on it to watch it - thinking it could be that story I was thinking of. No it wasn't but IT WAS ANOTHER STORY BUT IT WAS JUST AS AWFUL. This one was her at university cycling home, seeing an American in a car and saying to him (basically) would you like to come home with me and suck you off. Stanley Tucci is really not impressed - he sort of jokingly walks off but look at his face.

She has become more and more extreme in her attempts to shock as she has got older. Maybe she's just run out of sexual road to shock people and racism is her next thing. What's left? Crime? Murder? Bestiality?

I'm not entirely convinced she doesn't just make it all up because she enjoys the shock value.

Whatever the truth, her behaviour is all very strange.

Gosh. Andi Peters has not aged a day since his Live and Kicking days.

She might not lose sleep but hopefully will lose a few tickets sales and sofa appearances.

I’m pretty sure Andi Peters is considered one of the most powerful people in TV, as a producer, commissioning editor and media trainer, as well as a presenter. I very much doubt MM, with her numerous tv projects, is/was unaware of who he is. She’s a gobshite who can’t give an interview without saying something “risque” - it’s become her USP, aided and abetted by the likes of Graham Norton. She couldn’t say anything about sex or anything scatological at that time of day, so she settled on race. I doubt it’s Andi Peters’ first rodeo with her type of white, liberal racist who thinks they are paying you a compliment. As a POC, I’d rather converse with an out and out, card carrying racist than her sort, who get all DARVO on you because they apparently “meant well” and “didn’t mean to offend”.

The conversation then turned to accents, given Christine’s thick Irish accent.

Perhaps neither? People at that age are not all the same, so it's not generational, nor does everyone over a certain age have dementia. She's just very ill mannered.

i've just watched the interview (yes, i record this morning for the shits and gigs). i never really had an opinion on andi peters but how he dealt with that twat margolies was perfection. and she was rude and a twat (nothing new, i know)

andi peters was amazing. and he carried on presenting amazingly considering what he had just been on the receiving end of. literally give the man a "one big thank you" (hashtag the one show) for being so calm and polite.

I've just seen the clip which is doing the rounds on Twitter/X and she starts off her questioning of Andi Peters asking him "what accent is normal for you?" . He replies that he is using his normal accent. He is born and raised in England, what on earth was she expecting.

For those suggesting it's her age or dementia, my grandparents were born before her (no longer with us) and never made such assumptions. I'm sure she would have been rightly upset if someone asked her why she didn't have a Yiddish accent.

It's a pity she behaves like this as she is an incredibly talented actress. I saw her one woman show a few years ago. She was note perfect and had the audience in the palm of her hand for 2 hours.

I think she's eccentric and has lost sight of where to draw the line.

I recently finished Michael McIntyre’s book and he tells a story of totally bombing when presenting at the BAFTAs before he was well known and needed positive exposure. He’d tried to do a running gag dropping in sitcom names, he was already mortified and then Graham Norton came on after and sneered “one foot in the grave anyone?” which really knocked him; it didn’t seem to have been said or taken as a joke. It must have gone deep to have been retold in his book.

I agree, people are saying she has 'always' been like this, are probably referencing the last 10-15 years or so, not prior from the 70s to later. I have seen a complete deterioration in her language, presentation, chaotic thoughts.

I didnt see the programme but just what Ive read so far up to this page, her converssation sounds very disorganised and disconnected.

She needs to retire. What a mess she is.

It was not in any way OK though, it just wasn't, and my entire support is with Andi P, who has probably had more than enough of this to cope with in his life.
