I've got an annual leave day today and am spending the morning shamelessly on the sofa watching daytime TV with cups of tea and biscuits after an exhausting school summer hols. Kids back at school today. I've given myself permission to vegetate till 3:15pm.
So here I am watching This Morning and have just spent 5 minutes with my jaw wide open and hand over my mouth at what Miriam Margolyes just said to Andi Peters.
Did anyone else see it??

OMG, I’ve only read that term in literature / films about slavery in the Deep South! Typically used as a slur by wicked plantation owners. It’s a shocking thing to say to anyone and absolutely belongs in the history books. She’s a revolting woman. I agree. Her wide-eyed faux innocence when she is relaying one of her disgusting little stories, her beady little eyes searching faces for a glimpse of embarrassment or outrage...she loves it.

In the past I have seen her guesting on Graham Norton shows; why he heck he encourages her, I do not know.

I think she is a despicable human being. Very few people I really do not like and would leave a pub/restaurant if I walked in a saw them, but she, Polanski and Farage are in the list of people’s whose presence I could not stomach.

Why did she think one of his parents is white? Obviously you can't anyways tell but to me Andi has the appearance of a lighter skinned black person. Not mixed. Some might say he sounds kind of 'white' because he's 'posh' and gay but again that's a stereotype. But what's it got to do with anything anyway?

He used to go to my gym. (Also nothing to do with anything!) It was quite a small place and it was clear he didn't want to be noticed. Which was awkward as he always seemed to be on the machine directly in front of my line of vision!

God knows why she asked that, if it was completely out of context? I didn't see it but if they were talking about racism or black people or mixed race people as part of a feature, then just about. But even then.

She leaned forward and extended her arms open and pulled a concerned facial expression and changed the tone of her voice to almost pleading "I haven't said anything wrong have I?".
I didn't buy it.
So yes I suppose Andi and Christine immediately thought to reassure her, in the way people do with manipulative behaviour, because it immediately makes you feel wrong for 'making a fuss'.
Although I do still hope that they were actually secretly thinking "Just fuck off right now you racist, offensive woman" whilst maintaining pretend polite social niceties for the sake of daytime TV.

I thought it was a good and fair assessment of this kind of deliberately offensive and attention-seeking behaviour.

She can be really vile - on the other hand, this is hardly new information and shows keep inviting her on, and they absolutely KNOW she will say something wildly offensive or inappropriate in some way..

SO I can only conclude they do this KNOWING how she will behave because they want the ratings and the discussions that will arise - such as this one.

Tbh, I have more issue with the people who decided to have MM on than MM herself - she's not changing now, I don't actually think she is racist (as in, I don't think she believes one colour or race of person is superior to another), but she says whatever she thinks will get the biggest reaction, and doesn't give a fuck if it upsets anyone, which you could argue makes her no better. I do think she thinks as an old lady and a jewish lesbian she has some sort of 'pass' to say what she likes.

I saw her on Graham Norton a few times and other guests (both sexes) are squirming with awkwardness and how gross (and unfunny) her story is while Graham Norton is laughing along with her
