Ok I do have major family problems with a cocaine addict for a brother who is making our life HELL.
So I may be a "tad" sensitive about these drug taking fuckers who make millions and are adored by gullable young people.

But surely its got to be stopped!

She is totally out of it on BBC2 at glastonbury and she was a disgrace on the Nelson Mandela concert yesterday too.

WASTE OF OXYGEN

hear hear, chukky

don't think everyone was watching her in a car crash way. Watching her because even through the slurring and wobbling, she is mesmerizing.

agree, she is not a role model, she is an amazing and talented woman with a messy personal life.

ChukkyPig · 28/06/2008 22:43

Examples, off the top of my head:

Mick Jagger
Keith Moon
David Bowie
Ozzy Ozbourne
The Beatles
James Brown
All of Deep Purple
All of Pink Floyd

I could go on for hours.

Shocker: Talented singer/songwriter takes drugs.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

How her hair looks is irrelevant and petty. FGS.

I wish her well. I hope you all do too.

morningpaper · 28/06/2008 22:47

Well being a cultural savage I've never heard her stuff before

I thought she was FABEROONI

Well talented

She appeared like a completely normal pop songstress to me - have you lot been watching too much Hi-5?

luckylady74 · 28/06/2008 22:49

Well said Chukkypig and MP(but what desert do you live in?)!

Bubble99 · 28/06/2008 22:49

I agree. She's fab. Talented and not cloned.

Hope she doesn't do a Janis Joplin, though.

DKMA · 28/06/2008 22:50

She could pose for an advert to raise money for mistreated / starving horses!

(heard that on tv last night and pmsl)

BettySpaghetti · 28/06/2008 22:50

lol at MP's Hi 5 quip

unknownrebelbang · 28/06/2008 22:51

What's Hi 5?

Bubble99 · 28/06/2008 22:52

Hi 5 is shiny, shiny people singing songs (which all sound exactly the same) on a children's TV show. Aussies.

BettySpaghetti · 28/06/2008 22:53

Hi5 -squeaky clean Aussie childrens TV show

ChukkyPig · 28/06/2008 22:55

DKMA that is so mean.

When a man makes great music, everyone says, gosh that's great music.

When a woman makes great music, everyone says, oooh her arse is a bit fat, she's too thin, her hair is wrong ad infinitum.

I haven't spotted a massive backlash anywhere about scrawny, , pallid skinned, dodgy haired, wanky suited mark ronson!

lilymolly · 28/06/2008 22:57

well I dont beleive I ever mentioned anything about her hair.
And Yes I would have sympathy if she was trying to get some help.
She is a disgrace, she should not be performing on TV off her fucking head she should be getting herself sorted out.
Until you have your own family RUINED by drugs then you are in no position to criticise me.

OP posts:
harpomarx · 28/06/2008 22:59

nope, chukkypig. but i did spot a thread earlier with people moaning about JayZ being ugly...

don't think he's that bad myself, obviously not as gorgeous as Beyonce of course, but then few of us are.

Fimbo · 28/06/2008 22:59

Hasn't she been diagnosed with emphesma (sp?)

lilymolly · 28/06/2008 22:59

FFS this has got nothing to do with the fact she is a woman!
Pete doherty is another useless fucker who is not even talented but amy has happened to adorn my TV screen for the last 2 days and has pissed me off

OP posts:
DKMA · 28/06/2008 23:01

Er no - I class her in the same league as that Pete fella who went out with Kate Moss.
They are drug addicts who seem to lately only be remaining famous because they are drug addicts and people like watching them fall apart.
Neither of them have produced anything other that shite for ages because they have lost the plot.

NOTHING to do with male / female at all!

harpomarx · 28/06/2008 23:02

lillymolly, I have had my own family affected seriously by drugs (I wouldn't say ruined). Several members in fact. Including my husband.

I can still appreciate AW's outstanding talent though.

(I do appreciate where you're at though, I have felt extremely angry about people making light of or glamorizing drug use in the past)

lilymolly · 28/06/2008 23:04

Oh but I do appreciate her talent- but surely what we all witnessed on tv tonight was not pretty or demonstrative of her talent
she was crap

OP posts:
unknownrebelbang · 28/06/2008 23:05

TBH, I don't want to watch any artist, male or female, who's lost the plot via drink or drugs.

I think Amy Winehouse has talent, but I don't want to watch her at present.

DKMA · 28/06/2008 23:06

Outstanding Talent??
I beg to differ

Can't people see she is dying on our screens - I mean this woman is near death here and people are booking her for gigs knowing that it will attract an audience!
It's sick!
She needs very serious help.

Nighbynight · 28/06/2008 23:08

I read the first BBC reports about her performance, and they did not say the things that are on this thread, instead they gave the impression that she is OK (I am not in UK so cant watch it myself.)

I wonder if they will change their report now.

luckylady74 · 28/06/2008 23:13

I have ti disagree -I found her very watchable - really people do you not remember the state of people like Shane MacGowan, Shaun Ryder - both lyrical poets that were prone to complete incoherence/ lying behind the speakers at the gigs i went to. She was in tune, she was standing, she's always danced like that, she's taken care with her appearance(you not liking it isn't the point) it's jazz ffs it can meander a bit!It wasn't sublime nor was it drug addled crap as you're suggesting.

ChukkyPig · 28/06/2008 23:16

Well I enjoyed her set, went a bit wrong at the end maybe, but she was very good.

This is glastonbury after all, not a managed arena gig or something like that.

I have people in my family, and close friends, who have been detrimentally affected by drugs. It's very sad.

But I don't see that people like Amy Winehouse/Robbie Williams/Elton John will inspire people to take drugs. I think they may inspire them to become performers, and that often attracts a certain type of lifestyle etc.

When people become addicts it is very sad, and many people have experience of this in their family. But blaming people in the public eye is just off the mark. People become addicts due to upbringing/personality. A non drug using 20 year old is hardly going to think it's worth a go, after seeing amy tonight.

DKMA · 28/06/2008 23:17

Lucky - It's ot just tonights performance I'm on about. I saw recent pictures of her painfully painfully thin covered in cuts and scabs - she shouldn't be in the limelight right now.
I feel very very sorry for her.

And yes I do remember all of those others you mentioned and the same applied to them at the time too.

morningpaper · 28/06/2008 23:17

I didn't see any drug-addled crap at all - she looked wobbly in those enormous heels to me

Rumourhasit that she came in a limo from the hospital where she was being treated for emphesymia

but who knows? maybe she spent the afternoon making scones and just changed out of her cupcakebunting pinny for Glasto

Amazing voice, great performance IMO
