to think that Amy Winehouse should be publically removed from media and press coverage

Ok I do have major family problems with a cocaine addict for a brother who is making our life HELL.
So I may be a "tad" sensitive about these drug taking fuckers who make millions and are adored by gullable young people.

But surely its got to be stopped!

She is totally out of it on BBC2 at glastonbury and she was a disgrace on the Nelson Mandela concert yesterday too.

WASTE OF OXYGEN

Are you ever 'too old' for Glasto?

BettySpaghetti · 28/06/2008 22:23

I hardly think Amy Winehouse can be blamed for the amount of press coverage she receives. Its not as though she leads the lifestyle she leads in order to keep up her profile in the media.

As I said on the other thread I think shes doing alright tonight considering how bad some of her recent live performances have (allegedly) been.

I wish she'd stop all the "chat" in between songs though.

BigGitDad · 28/06/2008 22:25

Good point Chukka the media give the women a much harder time re Britney and Amy than they do the men who do drugs.
it saddens me as she is wasting her talent, she has enough money to really get herself sorted but clearly she does not want to.

you know with all her money she can get help
Rehab for brother (which he wont do )
is £560 PER WEEK

lilymolly -the signicant part of your post is the bit in brackets. If an addict doesn't want help, you can't force them ......money or no money

ChukkyPig · 28/06/2008 22:26

No, she wrote this, I mean bloody hell, I wouldn't even know how to write a tune , let alone an album of songs, let alone get up on a stage and sing them.

I think there are double standards here. No-one gets so worked up when men are off their faces.

She is fab and I just want her story to have a happy ending, I'm horribly worried it won't.

TheMadHouse · 28/06/2008 22:26

Close your eyes and listen. I can not watch it, but she can sing.

BigGitDad · 28/06/2008 22:27

God, how will she get back up to the stage?

Tommy · 28/06/2008 22:28

she's very brave walking on that field in those shoes... and not fallen over yet - quite impressive

LazyLinePainterJane · 28/06/2008 22:28

Oh yeah, BigGitDad, that makes them good then....

No, they are still boring ugly fuckers with less personality between them than a dead tortoise. And I wasn't saying she was good in comparison to them, I don't like her either...

Aarrgghh · 28/06/2008 22:29

Now she is elbowing people!

ilovemydog · 28/06/2008 22:29

free blakey my fella sung to the tune of free nelson mandela .

Um, her Blakey who is in prison for assault, tried and convicted in a free and impartial judiciary compared to Nelson Mandela in prison as a political prisoner under apartheid?

she's really gotta go

thats shocking totally fucking disrespectful

Hassled · 28/06/2008 22:31

Thank you ChukkyPig - my sentiments exactly. People get distracted by her "issues" and overlook the talent. She writes this stuff - and it's bloody great.

BigGitDad · 28/06/2008 22:32

Lazy, I misunderstood your post, my mistake then...

Moomin · 28/06/2008 22:32

I love AW's music
I hate the media scrum
I think she needs help and I have nothing but sympathy for her

But that was a fecking SHAMBLES. Her 'people' need to have stopped that. It was embarrassing and she's so much better than that.

God that was awful. Car crash TV. I can't believe the audience were cheering etc. as if it were all perfectly normal

SlartyBartFast · 28/06/2008 22:34

I don't get why people slag her off so much [whilst happily reading the media that perpetuates this shit]- this has been happening for decades. Hugely talented young people getting off their faces/potentially killing themselves. We make icons out of them because of their talent/tragedy. Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and many many more. She's not the first and she won't be the last. I hope she keeps on singing because her voice moves me and I hope she gets better simply because it's awful to see any fellow women disintegrate.

fymandbean · 28/06/2008 22:36

Ilovemydog - I second what you say

Disgrace to compare Blake to Mandela!

he's just a drug addicted thug (who would probably otherwise be quite a nice bloke).

She looks closer to 40 than mid-20's.

Moomin · 28/06/2008 22:36

I don't even think she ought to be a role model or anything like that. I just think that she doesn't do herself any justice with a performance like that and it gives plenty of fodder for the media to pick over; not to mention the AW haters who will use this as 'evidence' that she's a talentless waste of waste, which is simply not true (IMHO of course!)

Rufus Wahtizname singing Vanilla Ice on BBC3 now is proper funny and very good though!

ChukkyPig · 28/06/2008 22:37

But she isn't a role model. No-one looks at her and wants to be like that.

Ditto models. Cocaine kate shocker - "what a terrible role model". She never put herself up as a role model.

Sports people and TV presenters being caught drugged is definitely a let down.

Amy never put herself up as a role model. I think the way the papers hound her is obscene. She is great and I love her. I hope she is around so I can play DD her songs later.
