This is some dystopian lord of the flies hell. Those poor women. Burned on the boat. Wth. Poor man stabbed to death. Why are the people that did this then going to be roaming free in the UK? Why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place? Why are gangs not being 'smashed'?

Why won't the government tell us the truth about their crime rates?

But to say that rape is a measure of how European a man is, is just plain bonkers.

According to various media reports it was struck on the head, instantly killed and then lifted from the water despite repeated pleas from locals not to touch it.

The first 'safe' country eg for Afghanistan is Pakistan. They have sent a million people back to Afghanistan. None of the 'safe' poor countries next to failed States can possibly cope with the numbers involved. The refugees will starve.

People who have nowhere to live, no jobs, don't speak the language. But, because of our colonial history they may speak English so have a better chance of finding work here.

The problem is that we have no system for them to apply for asylum unless they are physically here. Then our system takes years maybe.

In addition we keep them in poverty ie £49.18 a week, £7 a day, for food, clothing, toiletries because we wont allow them to work (even though we have huge shortages in some work areas cf Government shortage list) while their application is considered - for years and years.

If their application fails because they have made a mistake or were not clear about their situation, they will get NOTHING. They can't be returned to their country of origin (failed state, civil war etc). They are destitute, will live on the streets, starve to death, unless organisations like Assist in Sheffield will help them. ( How many of us could be sure of filling in firms in a foreign country and get it right first time?)

While this is valid up to a point it's not going to stop the boat arrivals of those whose real circumstances wouldn't even begin to qualify them for asylum - not even if they claimed to have "made a mistake" or "been unclear"

As you suggest the process once they're here takes far too long, which could be helped by ending access to appeals, but what certainly doesn't help is the lack of political will to remove those found to have no case

They can definitely be returned to country of origin. And they pass through so so so many EU nations till they come here.

Also, they're fed in the hotel and barracks accommodation. Phones, medical and dental care are provided. The money is pocket money.
And lol at not allowed to to work. They're all delivering Uber Eats.
