This is some dystopian lord of the flies hell. Those poor women. Burned on the boat. Wth. Poor man stabbed to death. Why are the people that did this then going to be roaming free in the UK? Why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place? Why are gangs not being 'smashed'?

They also need to be careful with their phrasing. "Decreasing" isn't accurate. "Rate of increase has slowed" is more accurate, but that still means the overall numbers are increasing.
The other thing is that when the government state migration has dropped, they mean net migration. If we look at who is leaving, and how many, suddenly the picture isn't as rosy.

The net migration figure is down but the 'quality' of people is the big issue. We are importing millions of low/no skilled people while those that are leaving are generally highly skilled (otherwise the countries they are going to wouldn't accept them. I fear for the future of the UK. Seriously, who would come to the UK if they were highly skilled and from a comparably wealthy country?

I think a worry is the increasing burden of welfare. A large family with inadequate breadwinner support, and a family whose females will never work due to cultural norms who will also go on to have large families… And then there’s the housing issue!

There is currently no incentive to cut your cloth, in fact the situation is quite the opposite.

Re the NHS collapsing without migration thing, what state are the health services in the countries of origin of all the medics we're poaching then, once their studies have been paid for by the taxpayers of those countries? Why aren't we training enough in the UK?

I don’t really know much about this, but I remember seeing a thread on here where the OP said her son would not be offered a placement once he’d qualified as a doctor, and apparently most of his fellow student acquaintances wouldn’t either.

So a lot of them are looking at moving abroad.

It seems crazy when there is a shortage in this country.
