I know I sound horrible. I know I’ll get lots of hate saying leave him the poor man but I know a lot of women feel the same.
I love him but he just gets on my nerves anyone feel the same? Give me stories / things your husbands do that grate on you like a fork on a brick wall. 😂 I know I sound vile. I’m honestly not, just ughhhhh shudder.

Aside from the black and white mix up - which would piss me right off...

He's woken up and cooked breakfast for the children and you've gone out to drink coffee and read a book in a coffee shop. Tonight he will buy a nice takeaway. Regarding the milk, have you never forgotten anything in the supermarket?

Oh but you’ve forgotten. Women are right and men are wrong.

My husband of 25+ years is my best friend, the absolute love of my life...

But the way that man eats a packet of crisps... I swear to god...

He practically shoves the whole packet into his mouth at once and then proceeds to crunch with the noise of the T-Rex entrance in Jurassic Park.

Anyhow the other night whilst watching TV he let out a huge sigh, I asked if he was okay and he replied, you eat chocolate really strangely...

So I guess it's a mutual thing 😂

The only solution is separate houses, failing that separate kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms. It works for Charles and Camilla doesn't it?

I'm with my DP over 20 years. Separate houses. Still in love and no aggro. He can do all the annoying things in his own house. 😊

EmmaB1309 · Yesterday 12:27

Oh yes, plenty times in our 15 years of marriage I’ve thought actually can’t stand you.

He can’t do anything quietly. Loud footsteps, loud voice, loud sneezing….

The snoring. Oh the fucking snoring…..

Skidmarks on the toilet never cleaned.

When our daughter was newborn and sleeping in our room I would be up like 6am to feed her, then I’d put her back down and try to have another couple hours sleep. But he would get up for work and stomp around the room, making as much noise as possible and spraying his deodorant for what felt like hours, and I would lying there wanting to strangle him and thinking ‘if you wake her I may actually commit murder’.

He puts a washing on then leaves it in there, not hanging it up, it festers, the rest of the washing piles up, he puts it on again and so the cycle continues for sometimes, I kid you not, three or four cycles. I do mine and dds but it’s not like I refuse to his with ours, he wants it done separately but just doesn’t bloody hang it up!

I do love the sod though.

This made me giggle this morning because I’m currently annoyed with mine he hasn’t done anything wrong, I am due on anytime now and every month I get the exact same feeling towards him I’m never nasty to him or say anything because I know it’s my hormones and it will pass in the next few days but honestly the fact he is in the house is getting on my nerves 😂 we no longer have young children and we have been together forever and no I don’t need to leave him

My husband drives me insane. Especially when I’m in the kitchen trying to cook, he’ll come and make a coffee with his massive elaborate coffee machine, spill stuff, get in the way, stand in front of drawers I need in.

it’s a rule now we can’t eat in silence, we need music or something. Because the noise of him eating makes me want to strangle him.

I get you, you love him, but husbands are fucking annoying. The same way it would be spending that amount of time with anyone I imagine!

Yes we also have to have music or TV because of the sound of him eating! He also likes to leave footwear in the middle of doorways and brings his cereal back to bed to eat early in the morning and leaves his bowl on the bedroom floor. Our DS is 17 now and our marriage is fairly good, we do some nice stuff together. But when our son was born up til he was about 11 I felt like I had two kids not one and was ready to leave on a regular (possibly hormonal) cycle!

SunnyRedSnail · Yesterday 12:29

@omgcomeon I think we have it the other way round. Everything I do or like my DH seems to hate or it irritates him!

I like music playing. He likes quiet.

I play instruments. He hides the other side of the house.

I love reading. He hates it.

I have sensitive hearing so like the subtitles on as otherwise I pick up background noise (dog, kids, outdoor noise etc...) and can't hear what they are saying. He refuses to watch TV with subtitles on.

But for me, he insists on doing DIY stuff then it takes him MONTHS, and my biggest pet hate is he greets the dog first when he comes in from work!

Dear god the ones taking this so literal and being ‘heartbroken’ at the thought of it all. Fun sponges. Lighten up. Not everything has to be so fucking serious.

fwiw I tell my husband how annoying he is, he tells me too. It’s called banter.

It's not being a fun sponge not to find it funny to sit and slag off your partner and bitch about how you can't stand them.

My DH drives me mad as well sometimes and I'm sure I do him, but if he told me he couldn't stand me, or I found out he'd been saying as much, I'd be really upset, and I would bet most people on this thread would feel the same.

I think people just have really different relationships though. I don’t have anyone in my life that would say they can’t stand me as banter. My parents didn’t do that so I suppose I didn’t choose a husband or friends who would say they can’t stand me. Not to my face as banter and not on an internet forum.

Love DH, but this morning he has really got on my fucking nerves it isn't even 10:00 AM yet.

in no particular order these are the things he has done so far to annoy me:

Made a huge mess in the kitchen when making pancakes for the children's breakfast.

Told me we are almost of milk- he was in a supermarket yesterday.

Put a load of white laundry in with his dark stuff with out any qualms at all he was trying to be "helpful "

Asked what's for dinner tonight, as he didn't really fancy what's on the meal plan tonight.

DH will be sorting out all of the above. He will be cooking or buying everyone a take away tonight he can fuck off if he thinks I am sorting any of this out!

Meanwhile I am sat in the coffee shop enjoying a coffee and a cake reading my book and I don't intend to walk slowly home until lunch time.

Similar to me! Also currently sat in coffee shop. My DH has had no interest in the garden for twenty years. He’s now decided part of the garden is his and has sat mansplaining how to garden and choose the right plants. “Not like the rest of the garden which hasn’t been done properly”. The improper comments clearly refer to me and I’ve worked on it for many years and spent thousands on it with no help.

im never offended by anything but I am silently fuming about this. Is it a divorcable comment? I don’t think so. Was I so peed off I needed to leave the house? Yeah, I was!

Loulou4022 · Yesterday 13:04

I actually think you can get too much of a good thing! I’m away 3 nights for work and then DH works one day every weekend and gets a day off in the week so we both get a day off on our own. Means our limited time together is special, I often wonder if we were together more if we’d piss each other off!!

NNforthispost · Yesterday 13:06

@Loulou4022 ny H used to go away every couple of weeks and it helped so much. I’d even say it was blissful, and we appreciated the time together more. When we both wfh we get under each others feet. Don’t get me started on when I’m on a call with client and he’s singing in the background (which I’m sure he does on purpose).

MaryIngallsRibbons · Yesterday 13:08

My kids aren’t even little and I really fucking hate mine today. I’m reading these posts to help me see that he isn’t that bad.

MrsPottscloset · Yesterday 13:09

I feel the same about my husband but I know it's the menopause doing this so I'll stick it out as I do really love him, but sometimes even his breathing makes me see red poor man.

Topseyt123 · Yesterday 13:10

Scoose · Yesterday 10:24

I think it's natural to be irritated at times mine used to annoy the life out of me at times and I'm sure he would have said the same. Then he died and now I wish he was here doing all of the minor grievances that annoyed me.

Same here.

My DH died back in March this year and I miss him very much.

During our 33 year marriage there were plenty of times when we annoyed the fuck out of each other. We could snipe for England but we knew we wouldn't want to be without each other.

Now I am without him and it feels like having had my right arm chopped off.

NetZeroZealot · Yesterday 13:13

I was at my exercise class by 9 am this morning.
DH hasn’t even had a shower yet & has just gone back to bed.
He is retired and does this most days.

We banter about the ways we annoy each other too (making a joke of it is the best way to deal with it) but surely you see that making a thread on the internet saying you can't stand someone is a bit... next-level? Also some of the posts where the husband's mere presence is the annoyance?

I'm annoyed by how he never closes cupboards. He's annoyed by how I kick my shoes off and don't put them on the rack. I don't think the phrase "can't stand him/her" has crossed either of our mind's and none of the ways he annoys me are important enough that I'd start an entire thread on here about them.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · Yesterday 13:16

I have loved my husband for nearly 32 years.

However, that doesn’t mean I always like him lol.

grinandslothit · Yesterday 13:26

This has been a lovely lighthearted thread. I wish the kind of annoyances were similar to these with both of my marriages but unfortunately they weren't and it was the right thing to get divorced

MyDeftDuck · Yesterday 13:26

I love my OH dearly. He is kind, gentle natured, generous……..but he does annoy me sometimes! He will help to cook but rarely plans a meal….if I ask in the morning what he would like for dinner he will say ‘food’! If he makes sandwiches for lunch he will put mine on a tea plate….but eat his own from the cutting board! He waits until I mention the ironing before volunteering to do it…….why leave it to me to say it needs doing, he KNOWS it needs doing! He pegs the washing out…… it does it all wrong IMO!
Theres loads of little things and I do bite my tongue …..a lot 🤪. And I do appreciate him, honestly!

Pollydarling · Yesterday 13:38

Ive Just had my 4th and bought a book called 'How to not hate your husband after kids' highly recommend it actually.
Alot of it pissed me off, seems in bits like it's justifying their behaviour due to evolution and how they are naturally wired but it has helped my understanding and own communication, I'm definitely more direct now and get better results.

This is exactly it.

There has never once been a point in my marriage where I’ve thought I can’t stand DH. Of course he drives me mad sometimes with his tuneless whistling or the fact that he always leaves his shoes by the rack instead of on it, but that’s very different to the posters who dislike their husbands so much they don’t even want to be in the same house as them.
