AIBU to think moustaches have unfortunate associations?

I’m slightly perturbed by the trend.

I hate any facial hair but each to their own.

One of my sons has a curly mullet. Idk what he sees but I see Glen Hoddle.

Barry had that weird mullet with just the tiny bit of hair in front of the ear shaved off, which I'm seeing a lot of. Moustaches and terrible gaudy acrylic jumpers - our local vintage shop has Foster Menswear jumpers selling for forty quid!

My son’s got a fade at the side which is a variation on Bary’s theme.

I’m seeing a lot of Gen Z mullet/moustache and it’s giving KwikFit Fitter ca 1985.

Ron Mael of Sparks's moustache was a major talking point when they first were on Top of the Pops. He wrote a great song called Moustache as well. He's still rocking a moustache today, but a different style. Here he is with brother Russell. They were great in concert last night!

very very rarely have I seen a good one.
In the 90s my boyfriend had one, and a beard. I think he was going for Jamiroquai but the first time he came to visit me in the restaurant where I worked I went into the kitchen to find all the chefs crying laughing, dancing round to ra ra Rasputin 🙈
One thing I’ve noticed more recently is that lots of transmen have a moustache. So if I see a handsome youthful man with a moustache I often assume he is a transman.

My teenager is busy cultivating his soon to be moustache. If that’s what he wants to do then so be it. I don’t mind them.

I totally agree with this. It looks plastic but that is the character. Sadly my husband has a full beard. Im still not a fan but its his face. He has such a lovely face too (sigh).

Bruno Mars, on the other hand……..looks like the love child of a sex offender and a cartel member.

They make me feel a bit queasy but I can’t explain why. I don’t mind and actually prefer some facial hair but not big Mr Twit beards and not moustaches.

My city is full of young men in ankle-grazing corduroy dungarees, barefoot shoes, mime-artist's t-shirts and little stripy beanies with mullets and moustaches. They're usually seen in charity shops or pushing a bike, clutching a book or vinyl LP. I think they and their moustaches look nice.

Fortunately I have now retired so see fewer men but Movember is my idea of hell. Numerous colleagues with either patchy hair on their upper lip or full on porn star vibes

I saw a young man the other day with a moustache. No beard, just moustache.
He also had very 80s styles clothes.
I was a teenager in 1989.

It's very strange to meet somebody who seems simultaneously young enough to be your son yet old enough to be your father.

You are not wrong. A man who looks good with a moustache is really a man who looks good despite the moustache. And those men are very rare.
